YEAH, YOU'RE RIGHT. Someone who needs therapy is now used to not being able to stand on their own. Therapy provides that type of support, and it could get hard to go on without that type of help. Its almost like an addiction. You now have something to rely on, but when you get rid of that backbone, eventually youll be able to be level headed again. But with with someone with a lot of emotional and mental help, it is hard to say.

An addiction to therapy is an addiction to the attention the patient is receiving. The patient is lonely, unfulfilled and looking for something absent in his life. The therapy may provide sympathy. Sooner or later, it must end. That is when the real therapy will be needed.

It is very common for ppl to be addicted to therapy, this is something which is not recognised enough, also therapists dont like to admit this as they want the income.
PPL are way too dependant on therapists nowadays, If someone goes to their doc with a problem they tend to send them to therapy, which is not allways the answer, in fact it very rarely is, most peeps I ahve talked too have said it has done them no good whatsoever, in some cases it has mede them worse.

Ask the therapist. Usually they end therapy when it has worked. Addiction to therapy is a good thing, like healthy living.

Surely to get addicted to Therapy then you would have to attend an awful lot of sessions, personally, because of this i would never admit to being addicted to therapy.

I would wean them off gradually if I were a therapist...maybe cut the visits back slowly and force them to cope with life without constantly checking in. Making sure, of course, that I was always available if there was an emergency.
