Or was this just the straw that broke the camels back?

No, they haven't always gone to such extremes. They *have* made concession after concession in order to obtain peace, only to see their opponents back out of their side of every agreement. And they *have* seen their civilians *targeted* (not just killed by accident in military attacks) over and over again. So, finally they realized there can be no peace with people who don't want peace, and they are fighting back.

I feel sorry for all the people, Palestinian, Lebanese, or any other nationality, who *do* want peace, and who have had those hopes spoiled by the violent, radical minority who *don't*. Unfortunately, until that minority is no longer a threat, Israel will need to defend herself against them.

Has anyone even seen these soldiers faces... I just see a very coincidental haze fogging up this situation. With the G8 summit about to happen as well as a U.N. meeting surrounding North Korea, it almost seems like the most perfect time to get every country in the world to address war instead of dwindling natural resources. Seriously, what could be a more opportune time to start a large scale war. The U.S. is at fault for this one. We have started these problems in the Middle East. What you are seeing now is the ripple effect of the Bush administration's "Yosemite Sam" foreign policy. Worst of all this is an ideological war based on dogmatic principles. As long as christians are killing muslims muslims will kill christians, and that is how the world views the Iraq situation. That directly ties us into this conflict. I hope you can all see through my subversive answer. My answer is almost the same as the question... Has Israel gone too far or have we?

The Hezbolah and Hamas should know better by now. Don't mess with the Israelis. They mean business. The Iraqui war would've been over by now if we had the Israelis do the fighting. Iran will never have a funcional nuclear weapon. Israel will hit them first before they can anything going.

They were shocked by the reaction, they calmed down now, and will hopefully withdraw their troops, and learn never to mess with Muslims again.

It's about time Israel started taking action. We've been sitting quietly for too long.
