What I am about to write may offend someone. I am not trying to. I just want to figure out whether I should go see a shrink or not.
So here it goes....
I 19 and have always thought I had never been raped or molested.
Well I was laying in bed last night trying to sleep and all of the sudden memories I had always had turned into more detailed memories. Example:
I remember my uncle telling me to come in his room and close the door.
Last night my vision showed me what happened after I had closed the door. Well, I will spare the details but in short it was melestation.
I've heard of people blocking things out but I never thought that could happen to me.
Do you think it's possible that memories you never knew existed can really be right there and play back in your head for the first time years later?
I wonder if my mind is playing tricks on me. What if that never happened? But then why would stuff like that come to my head? Is this even worth going to the doctor for?

Yes, I do believe that something like this can happen. I think when your mind has problems grasping certain things, and processing them, then it starts to block out the horrible parts of your life until you are ready and able to deal with them. For example, if a little girl of about 7 or 8 years old was raped, her conscious would find a way to block certain harmful and hurtful memories until it can find a way to cope with them. It's the bodies way of self-preservation. I do believe that things like this can and OD occur. I think it would be in the best possible way that you seek some professional help, and if you don't want to try that route, then seek out a best friend, and explain to them what is going on. Or you can even start a diary or a journal. Just try and find some kind of way to deal with things like this in a POSITIVE way. Don't become depressed, and think about harming yourself!! That can only lead to things that are NEVER good!! If you feel as if something like this HAS occurred, then I would suggest that try and find out as much as you can about what has happened, and hopefully, you will be able to get past it. Good luck, and I will be rooting for you! :)

ps

Has some important event happened in your life that could have possibly triggered these flashbacks and visions? When things of this nature are brought back from the reccesses of our minds, there is usually some reason or something that has caused a person's mind to remember things that were painful and harmful.

You should see a psychologist/therapist for sure - you need to figure out if these memories are true. These dreams/visions you are having might have really happened, or maybe they are something your mind has made up because you were thinking about the subject of molestation.
Either way, since you are dealing with thoughts like this you would benefit from seeing a doctor. Your therapist will be able to better guide you through how you are feeling and helping you to remember if these things really happened, and if they did happen, you will be glad you have someone who you can trust and help you get through it.

Theres nothing wrong with you. Traumatic experience can make a victim supress memories. It is very common. I was molested by some kid in high school. I "forgot" about it. (Because I was not emotionally capable of handling it) Two years later I was talking to a new friend and she made a comment about the kid. We got into talking and found out that he had done the same thing to her. As she and I were talking - I remembered what happened. See a therapist or talk to a good friend. It is not necessarily a good idea to confront your uncle for awhile until you have sorted through everything.

Listen I'm not a woman, but as a mature minded human being I still think I can help you out. Now first of all this question should offend nobody, and you should not feel bad or ashamed of anything because this was not your fault. Now to your question, people do block things out, its a physciological thing; but also if your uncle could not be the type of person to do such a thing, perhaps it was a vivid/lucid dream, a bad dream at that, I've had dreams that I thought were real and programmed them in my memory like they were real things that happened. I'm not saying either one is what happened because I'm not a licensed therapist, but perhaps you should consult one? Its up to you, good luck to you :)

I do believe that our minds block out things that we can't deal with at the time these things are hurting us. Yes, things can come back at a later date in your life. I would say see councelor and seek help. But don't tell your family until you know when the right time is. Take care of yourself first, because sometimes people may not respond the way you think, or they may or may not be supportive, and may try to dismiss your feelings.

If you have the resources it would be wise to seek the help of a mental health professional to determine if the memories are real - hypnotherapy, for example. It doesn't seem like a scenario yoiur mind simply manufactured, but a deeply supressed memory. Forget the fears about offending people; people are going to get offended by any number of things, and that isn't your burden right now.

If it is continuous and you are concerned I would definitely see a psychologist and be evaluated. If this is true there may be more victims in the family and neighborhood. It may still be happening to some new girl somewhere. It may be very theraputic for you and it may also save another child from becoming a victim.
You do sound like a survivor so this may be your best choice. Prayers and Hugs.

It's a very serious thing. And I've seen alot of people get hurt like that by someone they trusted. People do block things like that from their memory and maybe trying all these years brought up things that are confusing you. If I were you I might end up going to talk to someone it couldn't hurt to sit with somone and tell them these weird dreams. People say our subconscience tells us things we don't normally understand or think of. Maybe yours is trying to tell you something. If you're have these vivid dreams like that maybe it would be best to go. I'm very sorry you feel this way it's a hard thing to go through I hope you get better soon!

Do some Dianetics. It unlocks repressed memories & you figure out where those odd thoughs come from - the acutal incident that's causing them.

This way, you can know for sure if it's imagination or actuality.
