Bleaching is good but if you want to really whiten them use dish washer detergent with your regular detergant and bluing in the rinse cycle they will be whiter than white. My grandma was a seamstress and she always used this method on white from dress shirts to blouses and even sheets. Works wonders.

wash in very hot water and a good laundry soap. Rinse in hot water and a little vinegar 2x as well. Do not use bleach or softener. Then follow instructions on a pkg of DYE REMOVER. In the future stop drying your whites in a hot dryer and use only recommended amounts of bleach soaps etc. The HOT DRYER is a killer. You can also try old fashioned BLUING.

Bleach is very harmful unless you have a full load.(1/2 cup)
You can try on your white shirts only, adding 1/2 cup of vinegar to rinse water, to help rid the soap residue...........You can also let them soak in 1 cup vinegar and water b/4 washing. But rinse with clear water after vinegar. soak.( washing in a baby soap powder(dreft) is very good.).This may help you.good luck
