I'm about to be off to Community College, but after I get my basics done, I want to trasfer to a four-year university. Does anybody know any websites on transfering? Or do you have any info. on transfering and what I need to transfer?

You need to ask the college you will be transferring to, although chances are your guidance counselor at the two-year college knows all about it. I know, for example, that people around here routinely go to Cabrillo College in Aptos (remarkably good for a 2-year school, from what I've heard), then transfer to U.C. Santa Cruz. Both schools know all about it, it's done all the time, and they make it easy. It is a great way to pursue a serious academic degree when your high school record is not the greatest, as the 2-year schools tend to have lower standards of admission, and they will get you up to speed to where the 4-year school is glad to have you. But do take your classes seriously and do the best you can, or the entire opportunity could blow up on you.

All you have to do is contact the Admissions Office of the university to which you want to transfer. Some community colleges, like the one where I work, have a listing of what various 4 year schools require.

The one thing you won't have to do is take the SAT. Why not? Because once you're in college, you've already proven you can handle college level work. FYI, this is one reason why people start with community college and then transfer, just to avoid having to take the SAT.

If you know what university you want to transfer to, get an articulation agreement. This form will ensure all the course work you do will count towards your degree at the 4 yr university. Also see what type of transferable benefits you can obtain. IE will you be required to take less coursework, or if you have the same financial aid benefits.
