Please put it back, turtles cross the road in order to head for breeding grounds, because the turtles do this, there are a lot of turtle populations in jeopardy. If you ever see them doing this again, the best thing to do is to help them cross the road before they get run over.

Nothing. Take it back to the road you found it on and put it down on the side it was trying to get to, pointed in the direction it was heading. The turtle was crossing the street for a reason, be it water, better food, a mate or a nesting site. So, don't take it anywhere else, just help it cross the street and leave it alone. It's a wild animal and wouldn't survive for too long in captivity. It may make it through the summer, but how would you help it to successfully hibernate this winter? Did you know that turtles carry all kinds of parasites and diseases?? Hope you washed your hands.
So, please do that for the turtle and buy yourself one at the pet store. Pet store animals are much better suited to be pets and you'll be able to enjoy it a lot longer.

Green lettuce leaves, but NOT Iceberg Lettuce( at least that is what the pet shop told my grandson when he found his little box turtle.) He bought his turtle commercial turtle food, which she eats in an emergency, but really prefers Spinach, Butter Lettuce, any kind of lettuce except Iceberg. A fresh leaf every day

some birds will %. up a small turtle, like this one, and drop it to break its shell, that would have surpassed off right here. Turtles are very clumsy on land so its probabilities of suffering a million/4 mile are very nearly 0, and it would not were on a highway contained in the first position.

If it is fine and healthy, you should let it back into the wild. Close by where you found him, just further from the road. You can find more info about what to do at http://turtleexchange.smfforfree.com Good luck!
