Well my mom got my ears pierced when I was a baby because everyone thought I was a boy.
Having earrings really isn't that big of a deal. Ear piercing is so cheap, usually you just pay for the earrings themselves.
Having your ears pierced is like a right of passage for girls. Try talking to your parents. Don't yell or whine. take it from an older girl that it doesn't work. Talk it out with them, don't let them brush you off with "you're too young" ask for a better reason. You're 14 years old now and wheter or not they would like to accept it you are growing up. Try to convince them, I'm sure if you sit them down and talk it out like adults they'll cave in!

I got mine pierced for my sixth birthday. It was very painful because I turned out to be allergic to the metal. After I started using the medicinal stuff they gave me to put on my ears I think it was okay, but I don't remember because it was 17 years ago. The place I got it done at told me to leave the gold studs in for 6 weeks so the holes wouldn't close. At the end of those six week I couldn't get the backs off. My Mom eventually had to pry them off with pliers. (Totally not joking here.) Over the next few years I discovered that I was allergic to kids' plastic earrings, regular metal, some gold (don't ask me why, also I don't wear gold now), surgical steel, AND hypoallergenic earrings. One time in high school I decided to be stubborn and keep the earrings in no matter how much it hurt. I have a high tolerance for pain, but I eventually just could not take it anymore and took them out. I only had them in for maybe 7 or 8 hours. The holes were bleeding and itchy, and were highly irritated for several days afterward. Since then I've found I can wear earrings for a few hours a day if I want or need to for a special occasion. I take them out immediately when they start to hurt, and I cannot wear earrings 2 days in a row; there has to be at least a day's break between wearings. Mostly I don't wear earrings, and, oddly enough, my ears have never closed up since I got them pierced. I have a fraternal twin sister and she's never gotten her ears pierced (she's never really wanted to) but was considering it awhile back for her then impending marriage, and I told her to think about it considering my history. She ended up wearing very beautiful clip-on earrings.
I'd listen to your parents on this one.

I was 8. And getting your ears pierced is not that big of a deal. After all, if you change your mind in a few years all you have to do is take the earings out. As long as they don't get infected, noone will ever see the holes. I got a second hole in each of my ears when I was 13 (I'm now 17) and now I don't wear earings in those holes anymore...no one even notices!

I got the top of my ear pierced at about 13 or 14. If you're only going for the ears I think your parents should lighten up. It's not like you want t oget your eyebrow or lip pierced or anything. Sheesh! Parents!

I think that would be a terrific birthday present for you. My daughter was 6 months old. She's 21 now and she has 2 in each ear now. It's hard to buy attractive and youthful looking earrings that aren't pierced. Just my opinion.

I got my first hole pierced when I was a baby... like 5 months old. And my second hole last summer. It doesn't hurt. You can't even feel it. But if it gets infected it hurts bad. So you have to take care of them.
