A lot of bouncers are bodybuilders who support themselves by bouncing. As far as getting the job, maybe some training in physical security would help in addition to looking buff. Security training also helps one know the local laws regarding appropriate use of physical force, and ways to avoid being sued or arrested. You can get that information at a trade school.

bulk up tuffin up and visit ever dive club and stripjoint that might need a bouncer don't expect to get door right off youll probly be a walker in the club and work your way up there by proving yourself
oh yeah the best bouncers seldom use force they can easily defuse the situation with words rather than force so definitly bone up on your debating and communication skills........

rent-a-cop security companies. Its minimum wage but you dont really have to do anything. Then as you get bigger and stronger start applying at some "less busy" clubs then work your way up and you gain more experience. Try not to bounce around too much though. Also you may want to consider moving to Las Vegas. The casinos have extensive training programs for their security employees and its not hard at all to get hired.

Unless you're a cop forget it. Most establishments only hire off duty cops for security or unless you have a friend already working in a bar who can recommend you.
