overall density = 1.41 grams per cubic centimeter
(the density of water is 1.00 g/cc)
diameter = 1,392,000 kilometers = 870,000 miles
(Earth is about 8,000 miles in diameter)
The composition of the outer layers of the Sun (which is what we can see directly) is about 74% hydrogen and 25% helium, with the remaining 1% being all the heavier elements.

density: 1.408 grams per cubic centimetre

size: 4.373 million km circumference

composition: primarily hydrogen (73.4%), although continuous nuclear fusion for the last five billion years has added a good deal of helium to the mix (24.9%) since that is the element that results as the hydrogen fuel of the main stage sequence is consumed. Some other elements are:
Oxygen 0.77 %
Carbon 0.29 %
Iron 0.16 %
Neon 0.12 %
Nitrogen 0.09 %
Silicon 0.07 %
Magnesium 0.05 %
Sulphur 0.04 %
