i think, if u can define that it has lost it meaning.
but from my perspective, a "true friend" is someone for whom and about whom u don't think what u like or dislike, but u still know that he/she is the only one u can trust when the whole world is against u or not with u.

someone who has stuck by your side no matter what.has held your hair or head back over the toilet bowl after that long night or drinking and partying.always believes you no matter what others say about you and is willing to testify in court about what a great person you are.Isn't afraid to smack some sense into you even if it means actually smacking you around a few times.You can let your walls down and true emotions show without worrying that they think your a wuss or overly emotional.Can pick out a good bf/gf just by meeting them one time and saying hi.Pushes you to always be your best and not quit on anything no matter how much of a failure you think you are and want to quit.that about sums up a friend.

A true friend is someone that knows all about your faults and loves you anyway. A friend is someone that will tactfully tell you the 'truth' about something you are doing, and will love you anyway. A friend is someone that you can call 3AM and they will listen to you sniffle about a problem. These are 3 things that will make a true friend.

A friend is someone who will visit you in jail. A good friend will bail you out of jail. But a true friend is sitting next to you in jail saying wasn't that a blast. That is not mine, but a good one that fit the question.
