What? The rest of the world against him? I think everyone agrees on Iran, Working toward a solution on N Korea, everyone's agreed that no one is going to do anything about Israel-Lebanon conflict.

Putin is trying to stand up for his national pride, and make his country strong like it once was - in terms of sphere of influence (economic imperialism by political domination). All of that would be fine except the tactic the ex-KGB chief sees to achieve this is to revert his govt in the direction of the centralized police state it once was.

The rest of the world is each serving their own interests, but are for the most part on the same side as the US. The US is not actually leading all of these efforts, but does take one of the harder stances because of our intense involvement with the war on terror - better to fix things now & quickly.

Good if he understands his end is nigh, it will not Putin so much when he goes down. Sounds like wishful thinking on your part.

Bush must be consistent...and that he's good at. We are not doing well at the G8, but that is to be expected. We are the largest, and right now, most want to see us have a power shrinkage.

I guess the world prefers communists who hate freedom to leaders who fight terrorism.
