I've never understood this argument. First, no one has ever said we are fighting for oil except the left wing propagandist. Second, if we were fighting for oil, would that really be such a bad thing? What runs our economy? What runs the worlds economy? The ability that the oil market has to slow down the US economy makes it worth fighting for! Of course, if the environmentalist would let us have a source of domestic oil then we would never have to fight for oil in the Middle East. I bet you also think the price of gas right now is President Bush's fault. Now tell me again why we shouldn't fight for oil. I'm guessing that this economic theory is probably too much for you to grasp. Take an economics course and step into the real world.

We don't need to, but we're American's, and we like things cheap. The prices of crude oil have skyrocketed, and we're used to having out gasoline prices low, in the $1.00, $2.00 range. Europe pays on average, between $4-5.00 a gallon for their gasoline. We however are already accustomed to cheap oil, and when the prices are offset to our disliking, we feel the need to get pissy and antsy over it.

All I hear is complaints here in America. I think people need ot get a grip and realize we have it at LUXURY prices. 3.00 a gallon isn't bad comparably. Take a look at Europe, where they pay $4-5.00 a gallon.

We're lazy, we're pampered, and we're unhappy, therefore we see a need to fight to get oil, because we're also greedy. Instead of sending troops over there to fight and reconstruct government as a trade off for oil, we should have sent a representitive over and had the representitives sit down and chat about the problem, and fix it without violence.

Damn our poor blind President...

The progoganda on the NEWS about how we're establishing Democracy, fighting off terrorists is lies and slander. Some of it is half true, where other parts of it are pure propoganda.. because the American government doesn't want the people living in it to know what the real problem is.

Its all about Oil and power, but if the U.S. stops kissing Israel's a** the world will be a better place. Another note, when American thugs rape an innocent Iraqi girl and then kill her along with her other three family members, a thousand more al Qaeda sympathizers are born. So, this fight against terror is an illusion.

Fighting for resources is always a bad idea in my opinion, however it has also been an inescapable reality throughout history.

Still, from a strategic standpoint, fight for oil is particularly stupid as the US would be much better off spending this money on alternative fuels, cornering that market before it even gets off the ground and thus insuring American economic dominance for decades to come.

Come on, not this again. People are going to continually claim that we are shedding blood for oil. This is simply not the case. We are not sending our troops to war to win oil. No American citizen in their right mind would join the military if that were the case. All enlisted know that we fight for the right cause and oil isn't it!

No.

We are not now, nor we will fight for oil in the future. We are a country of innovation and will develop alternative energy resources (say goodbye to the Middle East when that happens).

The rest of the world, especially the Far East, will copy our technology and reap the benefit of our innovation, as usual.

God Bless America !!!

I have yet to see the proof that we're fighting for oil. Especially considering how much oil it takes to go to war.

You think you can live your current lifestyle without petrolium products?

Everything single thing in your life is tied to oil.
