If you are looking to go somewhere in Atlanta- for romantic, I would recommend Floataway Cafe, Canoe, Vine, Joel or Bacchanalia- there are a couple of trendier places that can be be sexy romantic, like B.E.D., Twist, Rathbun's or Shout, as they are a little trendier and not necessarily quiet/intimate but great food and worth the trip.

If you are wanting to travel out of Atlanta and make a weekend out of it, Nashville, TN has some great dining options and is a short drive from Atlanta, Charleston, S.C. is also a great city - one of the most romantic and great restaurants too. A little closer to Atlanta, Five and Ten in Athens, GA is a great restaurant and Athens is a fun college town to check out.

I put the links to citysearch's best of lists for romantic and trndy dining, as the restaurants I mentioned can all be found there and you can check out reviews, menus, etc.

Have fun - I bet it will be a great birthday no matter where you go since you are putting so much thought and effort into it!

Vegas anyone? I know Vegas has its bad reputation, but there really are some nice places to go.

My husband and I went to the " Top of the World" restaurant and lounge. It's on top of the Stratosphere. It has very dim lighting and it spins for a great view of the entire city.( not fast enough to even notice that you are spinning) Very romantic! And great food! There is a photographer walking around offering to take pictures. It comes in a pretty durable cover. I still have mine from 9 years ago. And it's actually a really good picture. Good luck choosing! I'm sure he will love whatever you decide.

Below is a link to the restaurant.

I eat a lot in atlanta. There are 100,000 fantastic restaurants but for something romantic, most of the best will be usually way too crowded. If you can get to Marietta Square, Café Crêpe is a fantastic place, that usually isn't too crowded. Most Buckhead restaurants have unbelievable food, but are very crowded. If you don't mind that I would say, Maggiano's, La Grotta, Nava, or Sambouca Cafe.

Cuve'e located in the small town of Carlton Or. on Main St. It's a french resteraunt with low lighting and there's a lot of wine tasting places around there. about 2 hours from P.D.X.

I agree with the first answer, staying at home.
If you really want a fun, and memorable place...Imperial Fez.
Belly Dancers, you eat with your hands, and sit on pillows or low chairs. Be sure to get a pedicure, or no holy socks cuz you must leave your shoes at the door.

I was born and raised in Atlanta but I was drawing a blank on good places to go when I read your question, so I found this:

The best restaurant is the one in your house....

Trust me on this, if you spent 200$ on a meal for him in a restaurant it wouldn't even come close to having a nice romantic dinner at home with him.

Just my advice... but if you make it yourself it will be more appreciated.
