Spiders' legs are hairy so they can feel the most minute vibrations in the web or a preditor lurking closeby. They can also tell the breeze that carries rain with it's humidity.

So they can walk in webs, so they can walk upside down, and so forth. Some of the "hairs" are actually prong-type appendages--or whatever you want to call them--that assist the spider in traveling on weird terrains, like webs. They also help the spider wrap up prey in the silk.

They use the vibrations through the legs to know which direction is the prey coming from or where is the odor coming from so they can react fast as they go
