I always listen to what they say. Sometimes what advice they have to offer actually IS good advice. My mother in law was constantly giving my husband and me unsolicited child rearing advice, and we were always nodding and saying, "oh ok, thanks!" and then going on about our business. One day I actually listened to her and I was like, you know...this makes sense. She (and my mom, too) are from a different era...where putting babies to sleep on their stomachs was preferred, you always cover a baby with a blanket, you give a baby sips of water between bottles, etc. I've found after having two kids (28 months old and 12 months old) that sometimes the "old fashioned" way of doing things works better. :)

It can get very irritating, especially when people make comments that you didn't ask for. Everyone has their own opinions, even the experts. When people do make comments, just nod your head and say thank you. Or "we plan on raising our baby the way that is right for us as a family". Especially when you go to the park or mall, someone always has something to say. But when it comes down to it, you are the parent of YOUR child, and no one can tell you how or how not to raise your child. Just smile at people and tell them I appreciate your opinion...and leave it at that. You know us women, we always think we know more than the next woman. I've found that I just do what is right for me and my family and I thank those kindly for their advice.

Yes, I listen to them. If it is someone who has already been there and done it why not listen to what they have to say? Whether or not I use the advice is a different story. I do not have my mother around to help me, and a little advice never hurt anybody.

It depends what the advice is....if it's sarcastic criticism about what that person feels that I am doing wrong it bothers me. Otherwise, bring it on as I am clueless as to what children should be doing at certain stages and what is considered "normal." I don't have parents to consult on things, so I ask all the time for advice.

Sometimes you should if it is really helpful. Remeber the people that are telling you these things are more experienced and have learned from their experience. If it really sounds like it is just their opinion it probably doesn't matter. But if it sound like something that will contribute to their well-being, you should probably listen.

I'm happy with anyones advice unless they preach to me then my ears turn off. I take the advise and consider it sometimes I use it and sometimes I don't. I have received some great advise from Yahoo Answers!

Depends on the advice and who it is from . . . sometimes it can be a "this-is-a-nice-to-know" that makes things easier. Sometimes it is older parents who want you to parent like it is the 50's. One of the hardest things was when a friend talked to me about disciplining my daughter when she had 9 children under 8 (yours, mine & ours situation) that were totally out of control.

I usually don't take most comments as advice. I make my own decisions based on self-education. I'll only ask for advice if I'm stuck on an odd situation.
