Why don't American women know about The National Women's Rights National Park in Seneca Falls, NY where the first women's rights convention was held in 1848? It's also where the National Women's Hall Of Fame is located. Seneca Falls is on the Erie Canal System and the village was used as a model for the movie, "It's A Wonderful Life". It's worth a trip because it's located in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of New York where there are multitudes of vineyards and wineries with some producing world class wines that win prestigeous international awards.

I think because we don't live in the 60's anymore, besides The National Women's Rights National Park sounds more like a regional place of interest; just like knowing the name of the city for the birthplace of the republican party. (which is Ripon, btw)

I understand your question. But, what needs to be understood is that White women only have rights because the Euro-Colonial White man decided to GIVE White women rights.... same is true for the American Black man...and then woman.

So what's to teach?

... It was then that the White land-owning men decided to allow white women to.... (that's how the class should sound)

For the same reason men aren't taught this history... educators apparently still don't think it's important to include accomplishments of women in regular history classes.

looks like that would be a good job for you..even volunteer..a women only class..could even be at your local library..that's a very good idea..women can also learn how not to be unessesarily dependent on men...rewrite their roles as women in society so they don't repeat and make the same mistakes as women before them....that's very empowering!! you don't need to know about or dwell on the history...do what needs to be done now !!!
