Please understand that I am also a big Disney park fan. My husband (He works for Disney) and I have been to all of the parks many times (Yes, all:). I fix the errors below only because incorrect information is very common and the true information is usually more interesting. I do not mean to offend the original answerer, who is clearly a very big fan of Disneyland and seems like a very nice person.. My comments have "-------" before them.

-------------- There are two apartments built above Pirates. One was meant to be for Walt and Lillian Disney and the other one was meant for Roy and Edna Disney. Sadly, the were never used as apartments, because they were completed after Walt Disney's relitively sudden death.
The Subs also had live mermaids in the late 50's and early 60's -had to discontinue this as they couldn't keep the young men from swimming out to them.
----------- Live "mermaids" were at the attraction from 1965 to 1967. There were incidents of men swimming to them, but they discontinued them mostly due to the bad effects of chlorine and sun exposure on the mermaid Cast Members.
There are feral cats all around Disneyland that were brought in by Walt to keep the mice population down. The ones still there are desendents of those original kitties.
------- We have not seen evidence that Walt Disney introduced Disneyland's wild cats, or that anyone introduced them. They seem to have moved in on their own, as wild cats tend to do.
There is a duck that is a little different in coloring (you'll know it when you see it!) that is called Disneyland Duck in Latin-- its its own species now.
----------- I am sorry, but this is a myth, at least the "own species" part.
In front of the Candy Palace, those speakers do not release sound, they release the smell of vanilla to draw you in.
----------- Actually there is a small hole below the Candy Palace's right window where the vanilla smell comes out.
The livestock cars on the train were originally left enclosed to people could feel like cattle felt (Walt's idea)-- so many people complained about claustrophobia and the heat that they had to open it up and put benches there.
--------- It is a sensitive issue, but there were also problems with comments about the similarities to the way trains were used in the Holocost.
Before they enclosed all the backstage retail backstock, an errant firework exploded in a large warehouse filled with plush Mickey's in the late 80's-- all the Mickey's were a total loss.
---------- I have not heard of this. I am curious of your source.

Hey Fellow AP! Maybe I'll see you there one of these days-- I'm the girl with Pooh and Friends tattooed around my right ankle!
Walt's favorite place to sit was on the benches outside the train station in New Orleans Square.
In the Winnie the Pooh ride, if you look up at the birthday party scene, you can still see Max, Buff and Melvin from the old Country Bears show.
Lillian's apartment was where the Disney Gallery is now above Pirates.
The Submarine Lagoon cannot be drained permanently as it is now considered a source of water by the city of Anaheim in a state of emergency.
The Subs also had live mermaids in the late 50's and early 60's -had to discontinue this as they couldn't keep the young men from swimming out to them.
In VIP testing of Abe Lincoln, his hydraullic tubes broke and he leaked fluid from his chest, which unfortunately was red. The VIP's later came to Walt and remarked on him re-enacting Lincoln's assassination-- Walt was NOT pleased!

There are guards and guard dogs that roam the perimeter on the other side of the berm after closing at night until opening-- they live in the Kennel during the day.
StoryBookLand Canal Boats was Walt's favorite ride, besides the trains.

There's an underground structure about four stories deep under Tom Sawyer Island. It was built to house a large mechanical dragon for the finale of Fantasmic!, but they ended up going with something more like a large marionette, so most of the space is unused. One level down are stations with video monitors where some aspects of the show are controlled, as well as the Evil Queen's cauldron, which is pneumatically lifted to stage level during the show. All this is on a steel mesh floor. Looking through that floor one sees a BIG empty space below... Can't help but experience a sense of vertigo looking down into that void.

My wife has been to Club 33 a number of times, the private club above The Blue Bayou restaurant. By the way, that spike being the center of DL is an urban legend.

Let's see... I know that Club 33 is an exclusive club behind the green door, and above POTC. I know that there is a hidden door behind the location of the old attic bride where the employees used to take naps. The morse code you hear at the train station is Walt's opening speech...

did you know that all of the haunted mansion is built underground because they ran out of room in the park? also in indiana jones, when you feel like your backing up to get away from the rolling ball, the room is actually moving in a circle or something (it was confusing when i saw the drawings)... very cool!
