also, pcs are generally better for gaming, but that's a little less true now that you can run windows on the latest macs

Pretty much everything. Different hardware and software. Really, a completely different computing philosophy. I don't really know where to start.

Fundamentally, Macs are limited to systems completely made by the apple Company. PC are dependant pretty much on Microsoft software and processors with Intel architecture.

Macintosh is known for being powerful, good for video editing, sound editing, things like that.

A PC with Windows is more universal. There is a lot more software out there. However, in an effort to make Windows completely backwards compatible...lots of old erroneous code is still arond. Also, the Windows Registry (Preference center for the settings of all computer programs and windows itself) and DLL Program libraries are pratically specifically designed for viruses.

Ofcourse, you can use (free) Linux on PCs (aswell as Windows on the same computer), which for the initiated gives a safer more powerful system but also is more advanced and limited software pool.

Mac OS X is UNIX based making it more secure.
Mac OS 9 is based on apple's own kernel.

there are less viruses for Mac cuz less people use it.

Windows is based on a weak proprietary kernel. However, there is more software for Windows.

Also, the old macintoshes were based on the powepc processor while windows was written for the i386 processor(win NT could run on ppc though).

Just get whichever you want.
