I'm no liberal, but at the moment I'm paying over $3.00 for a gallon of gas. I'm watching new kids die every day in a war we no longer need to be involved in, I'm seeing the effects of global warming escalate to an alarming degree, and I've seen the federal deficit balloon out of control. This has all happened during a Republican presidents term, with a mostly Republican government backing him. Coincidence? I think not. (And the sad thing is that I'm actually a Republican that's lost all faith. I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to vote come the next election.)

As an independent and former republican who believes in less government, i am offended by your question. You sound ignorant. Why not pose an answer to a problem or ask a question that can help bridge the gap of understanding.
Is it possible that by writing laws that are meant to be compassionate, that people have become dependent on the state? Do these laws "enable" people, much as a person who is an alcoholic becomes enabled by those around him/her who refuse to be the "bad guy" who tells a friend that they think they have a problem...?
Such a question could make people think. Your question is pretty much an F..U to people who actually want a better world.
