It happens to me a lot too. It's a combination of a blood pressure change (probably low blood pressure) and anemia. See a doc and have some blood tests done. You may just have to be more careful about standing up quickly. :)

That happened to me back when Phen/Fen was legal. I wasn't eating any meat and got iron deficient anemia. I took some iron pills and the problem went away after a couple of weeks.
It is because the blood has inertia and tries to stay in the same place as your head moves upward. Then there is not enough blood to supply oxygen to your brain so you get tunnel vision followed by complete vision loss. You could pass out.

Do you also see white flashes of light? A common problem with these symptoms is just that oxygen isn't getting to your brain fast enough. During the act of standing up, the oxygen went to your muscles, mainly in your legs. You are still taking in the same amount of oxygen as you were while sitting down, so that act deprived your brain of oxygen. This makes you somewhat disoriented.
Next time, try to take a few deep breaths before standing up, then stand up. Or, if you are feeling lightheaded after standing up, take a couple of deep breaths and remain steady.

Hydorstatic blood pressure is slow to respond..is supposed to maintain your blood pressure at a fairly constant level, from resting to active .

...*reads above posts*...the same thing happens to me, does your head suddenly "heat"?
If so the blood simply rushes to your head from getting up TOO quickly, causing dizziness....
