Make sure you are calm and prepared when you go in. You are applyng for a retail store so you want to make sure that your appearence is impecible. Dress like you were going to a church service.

Make sure you can answer the basic interview questions: Why do you want to work here. What is your biggest strength/weakness. Where do you want to be in 3-5 years. Do you have Customer Service Experience.

Be honest, if you are nervous take a couple of breaths and relax. It is okay to be nervous just don't freak out. Think of the interviewer like he/she is your favourite teacher from school, don't think of them as a principal or a stern authority figure. It will be easier for you to answer if you are comfortable with the person you are speaking with.

Don't take this as a jinx, but if you don't get the job take the experience of interviewing and learn from it. You will know what worked and what didn't.

Be prepared to ask questions. Don't leave without asking something....A good question if it isn't mentioned in the interview is will this position be based on commision, hourly pay, or salaried. Also don't be afraid to ask how soon they expect to fill the position.

Don't discuss exact amounts of money, or vacation schedules.

If they ask what you are willing to work for just explain that you will be willing to discuss that if an offer is extended.

Good luck to you!

Calm down.

If you have the time, go to the library, and skim through "Knock 'em Dead", the best job interview book in recent years.

If you're working at "The Gap", extremely good physical appearance and dress may not get you the job, but poor appearance and dress will lose you the job before the interview starts.

If the Gap is offering dollars per hour plus commission on sales, look for the dollars per hour to be low. If they are just offering wages, no commission, look for the wages to go up to something you can live with, after you have been there three to six months.

- First impression is everything. Try to look the best as you can without looking like you're going to a prom.
- Smile goes a long way too.
- Give a firm handshake and a good eye contact. This shows your confidence and good ethics.
- Once in the "Interview Room". Let the Interviewer sit first before you do.
- While sitting, make sure you sit straight up with both your hands on sitting firmly on yourlap.
- Do not move too much, maintain eye contact and keep that smile on your face. Don't look so anxious.
- Try to relax as much as you can but not tooo relaxed (cross legs, tilting chairs, etc.)

The rest is just questions and just answer it truthfully.

If you follow everything I said.... You'll get the Job and maybe get more money than what you expect. Goodluck!

YOU NEED TO RELAX. MAKE SURE YOU LOOK PRESENTABLE. PROFESSIONAL IS THE BEST WAY TO GO FOR AN INTERVIEW. IT IS BETTER TO BE OVERDRESSED THAN UNDERDRESSED. MAKE SURE YOUR HAIR AND NAILS ARE WELL GROOMED AND THERE IS NO DIRT UNDER YOUR NAILS. IF YOU POLISH YOUR NAILS GO WITH A NEUTRAL COLOR. DON'T WEAR A LOT OF PERFUME OR A STRONG SMELLING PERFUME.

WHEN YOU GO IN, WAIT FOR THE INTERVIEW TO TELL YOU TO BE SEATED. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FIRM HANDSHAKE AND YOU WALK WITH CONFIDENCE. MAKE EYE CONTACT AND SMILE OFTEN JUST NOT ALL THE TIME BECAUSE IT WILL MAKE YOU SEEM NERVOUS OR THAT YOU CAN'T BE TRUSTED.

WHEN ANSWERING QUESTIONS, BE TRUTHFUL AND SINCERE. YOU WILL PROBABLY BE ASKED TO TELL THEM ABOUT YOURSELF, YOUR PAST EMPLOYMENT, YOUR STRENGHTS AND WEAKNESSES, PRIOR EXPERIENCE THAT IS RELATED TO THE JOB YOU ARE APPLYING FOR AND IF THEY WERE TO CALL YOUR PREVIOUS EMPLOYER WOULD THEY HAVE ANYTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT YOU.

AS LONG AS YOU RELAX AND DON'T PRETEND TO BE SOMETHING YOU AREN'T, YOU WILL BE FINE...GOOD LUCK
