I really don't like fresh water plants because they leave a big mess on my fish tank and my parents don't want me to buy plants for my fish tank. So I went to a store and bought bamboo plants because they don't make a mess but I was still wondering if it was good to put them in my fish tank. I currently have gouramis,plecos,tetras,danios,1 catfish. Please help. Also if I buy a fresh water shrimp angel fish or frog will it get eaten by one of my fish?

I don't think bamboo can be completely submersed. It will probably begin to decay throwng off you water chemistry. There are lots of beautiful fake plants- get an interesting piece of driftwood.

Your pleco and a frog will fight but not really hurt each other. Try ghost shrimp they normally sell 3 for $1. They should do fine. I would worry about the pleco more then anyone else. Angels get really big- are you sure you have enough room?

I don't know about the bamboo plants, so I cannot help you there. Yes, they do thrive in water, but I think the top part has to be out of the water in order for it to survive.

For my tank, I used to get underwater plants with big leaves because they didn't make a big mess. Also, the fish wouldn't eat them because the leaves were so big. Maybe your parents would go for that idea?

Fresh water shrimp-- they don't live long. Big fish might eat 'em. Still, they're neat. Frog -- I've had these too. Small brown African Underwater Frogs should get along fine with your fish. If you get the white/pinkish frogs, they should get along fine too, but they eat a lot and they will grow big. If it grows too huge, it might eat small fish. Angel fish-- another good choice. They're beautiful and usually pretty gentle.

Good luck with your tank.

The plants, I'm not sure about, because I've always used artificial plants in my tanks.

With the shrimp, your gouramis would probably try to eat them. The frogs will grow huge, and will eat anything that fit in their mouths (aka danios, small tetras). I've had angelfish before, with plecos, tetras, and danios in my tank, and they were fine, but with the gouramis, I'm not so sure.

Hope that helped!

They have artificial plants in varieties of colors that will work great, just rinse them off before putting them in your tank. As for the shrimp, angel fish and frogs, if you go to liveaquaria.com they can usually tell you if certain fish go well together.
