I disagree because, for me, if passion has reason, then is no longer passion.
If I stop to think why I love my husband, I will think of all the good things he is and if I find a reason, I can assume that I love anyone who is like that.
But I don't!
I just love him!
Can't reason it!

I think I basically agree. If you love someone passionately but never stop to consider what's actually best for him or her, that's kind of a form of madness. If you believe passionately in a deity without considering the causes of that belief, that might be a form of madness. Then again, what's reason without passion? A cold game in a barren room.

I prefer the emphasis "Madness is passion without reason" and you can quote me :P

Passion isnt reasonable in the first place. Imagine the passion of being physically attracted to someone. Not much rational there - just instinctive physical chemistry. The passion between two strongly attracted people is its own madness and create the most irrational behavior.

So I disagree but I would restate it to be "Passion without control is madness"

Pursuing someone you never met but are physically attracted to is passion.
Doing so publicly on the floor of your local grocery store is madness.

Some times passion can be reason. So I guess its how you look at it. What is madness to you? But my opinion is the statement is false.

i agree..if you have a love for painting and you paint because you love doing it then that is your reason. But if you paint never knowing why, the wondering could be enough to kill. With passion there must come reasoning.

Yes this is true. Take for example OCD. Most ppl with this disorder are a brick shy of a full load. Just my humble opinion... no offense to any OCD sufferers out there.

Sound advice. You need a reason because running around half ****** is pointless. This is where research and learning come in handy. Informed opinions and all that.

I agree; it irritates me when people get real passionate about things and it makes no sense, at least to me.

yes i agree.......when we are experiencing passion or pleasure we are in a state of mind where there is no logic, reasoning, or rationality..when we are in this state we sometimes are doing things that are not in our best self interest...could be alcohol, drugs, anything self destructive... thus..we truly are mad..(insane)

If you are forced to fight a war you do not believe in
then I guess you fight to survive not change the world,
I guess that would be madness , to kill innocent people
for no apparent cause
