I think the possibility is very real. I've never seen any myself(not sure I'd want to! lol). I know that energy cannot be destroyed. I read a theory that ghosts are left-over energy patterns from people who lived in that area. it can be a traumatic incident that happened and their energy lingers there. I've also read that some people when they die just can't let go and want to stay on this earth realm & they hang around confused. I don't know but anything is possible! My definition of a ghost might not technically be a traditional ghost but i think a ghost would be someone who is stuck and confused at the time of death. Someone who never has enough and stays attached to rigid ideals n beliefs. In Buddhism it's called a hungry ghost. A thin neck too small to pass food with a bloated stomach. This is a metaphor for people futilely attempting to fulfill their illusory physical desires. Maybe real life ghosts are people who can't let go of this earth plane? I like your questions!
I think animals are sensitive to this. My cat was walking once and just stopped and looked up. He stated hissing and his hair stood up. He stared at a spot on the wall and eventually looked real quick to the left like he saw something move. freaky.

Yes I do. I am a janitor in high school on second shift. There have been times when I have seen something in the corner of my eye that I cannot explain. I am thinking it has to be a spirit/spirits roaming the halls. I have heard noises that I know aren't mechanical. One time, a tennis ball had been left in the gym at the top ofsome bleachers (I didn't even know it was there), next thing I know I hear this ball fall to the floor. No explanation there. Sometimes I am sure I have felt a presence of some kind that I cannot explain either. One time there was presence that felt evil, like I was being watched with a lot of hate, but then it moved on. There has been a lot less activity since the class pictures have come down, so I am assuming that some of the sprits live in those pictures. So, someone has to convince that they do not exsist.

Thoughts are also very physical, and though it requires a bit more of keen observation, not difficult to see. A thought powered by a sharp focused mind can be felt by others, when targeted at them. The subtle thing is the energy that 'carries' this physical thought. The intensity of this energy is relative. The nature of the 'bundle of thought' powered by this energy, can be termed as spirit , ghost etc, very relative to our perception. Why some can see it and others cannot see is very similar to the compatibility (either favourably or otherwise !). This compatibility is almost a sort of 'within visibility range of each other'. This exactly seems to have given rise to refusal to accept, or need to 'believe' blindly. Those who prefer to believe, might be experiencing a very hazy visibility, neither good enough to declare having experienced nor sure enough to utterly deny it! We may compare it to varying degrees of qualitative-inclusive visibility, like partial colour blindness, etc. The more we try to put it into words, the more we feel it to be a vain effort.

Of course I believe in them. I believe that there are spirits/ghosts that are still here on this side. I believe that many are here to help with life and its decisions. Are we allowed to "see" them, not everyone. I do believe that there are reasons for why the spirits don't pass over as quickly as others. I have had experiences with spirits and ghosts throughtout my life, mostly good experiences. Some not so great. But they have all given me reasons to believe.

Just following up with the guy mentioning the 2nd Law, when our brain functions cease working, what happens to that energy formed by the brain synapse, the thinking part, the part that goes to all parts of our limbs? With death, does that 'essence' (for lack of a better word) rise out of the confines of the body, no longer held by the synapse?
People have tried to measure this, but have not been successful, maybe we're limited on the types of measuring instruments that are needed to verify this phenomena. Our only evidence is anecdotal, like the ones given above....nothing scientific.

"Ghost" or "spirit": the human soul persisting on Earth after the death of its body.
And no, I don't believe in it. I don't think it makes any sense. To me, the soul (if any) is simply a function of the body. When the body ceases to function, the soul ceases to exist. This is also why I don't believe in heaven or hell.

Maybe, maybe not. But I will say that I have a month old baby (first) and my wife and are seriously starting to consider the possiblitly that the world is filled with something we can't see, becasue our daughter will just stare at a blank wall or ceiling or something, but not a blank stare, she is reacting to something that we can't see. It would kind of freak me out, but it is pretty much only happy, surprised, or curious - never scary. Makes you wonder. . .

according to the law of thermodynamics, energy cannot be destroyed, only converted into another form. So I think that when we die, we convert into another form of energy. Sometimes we see/hear/ experience this converted energy as ghosts or spirits.
