try turning the mouse over and removing the plate that keeps the ball in. Sometimes dust 'n' stuff gets caught in there and can mess up the movement - take the ball out and wipe it clean, then make sure there's none in the hole. Put it back to gether - and voila! Sometimes...

If it is dirty inside, it could cause it to feel rough when you move it around, and the cursor would be erratic. On the bottom of the mouse is an access plate. Its that small plastic circle around the ball. Use your fingers to unscrew the plate and pull it off. Take the ball out, and set the plate and ball off to the side. Inside the mouse are two roller bars and a white spring loaded wheel (or at least all mine have always been set up that way). If dirty, you'll see a buildup on those where the rubber ball left dirt. Scrape it off with your fingernail, blow the stuff out, then put it back together. The mouse should be working as good as new then. If that doesn't do it, check the mouse and cursor settings in your computer. Hope this helps. Mine has always been the dirt buildup.

This could be one of two things, if your mouse still has a ball in it, try cleaning the ball rollers inside the mouse.
Also this could be a video card driver problem, so you may need to update the video driver.

One a VERY rare occasion the mouse driver may have become corrupt, and will need to be replaced.
