Unspoken angry words.

3 times in the past 6 months with a cold? You are embroiled in a difficult situation that has you under so much stress that your body is forcing relaxation in the form of a cold. The whole thing has you so upset, you can hardly speak. If your throat is sore too, then you are likely angry at yourself about it too.

Funny the same thing happened to me when I was small. My parents had just divorced and we were supposed to have visitation days with my father and he scared the living crap out of me. I never wanted to go but felt so guilty. Luckily I have pretty strong personal power and I kept getting sick (I couldn't go if I was sick, could I?) for about a year (must have happened 6 times) and he eventually lost interest in us and I was free to be healthy again.

Do yourself a favor and address these issues in your life. There is a wonderful book by Louise Hay called You Can Heal Your Life http://www.consciousone.com/c1Cards/cardsView.cfm?cardGroupID=1 and it has been the single most helpful thing I have found to keep myself healthy.

Peace!

Laryngitis is caused by overuse, irritation, or infection of the vocal cords inside the larynx. Some of the most common causes are:

An upper respiratory infection, especially a cold or flu.
Straining or overusing the voice, such as by prolonged loud talking, shouting, cheering, or singing.
Allergies.
Exposure to irritants, such as smoke or chemicals.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This is called reflux laryngitis.
Chronic symptoms, which are those that last 2 weeks or longer, may indicate more severe problems with the vocal cords than inflammation alone, such as nerve damage, sores, polyps, or rough, callous-like areas called nodules. Such problems often are caused by a chronic viral infection, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), cancer, or injury to the larynx. Some hoarseness may occur naturally with age as your vocal cords loosen and grow thinner.

Low systemic resistance would be the first thing to consider.. then any habit that may cause irritation to the area....there are such things as laryngeal pollyps which should be ruled out...this suggesting a general weakness of that area and making it subject to those infernal opportunists. Which remain in our mouth, just waiting for that opportunity to present itself.

Are you around a smoker? If you are make him or her go outside with their cigarettes. This causes not only laryngitis, but bronchitis, asthma and lung cancer as a result of 2nd hand smoke.

Do you smoke? Do you have allergies? You should go see a Ear/Nose/Throat doctor and have it checked out. My Mom gets broncitis often and left untreated she gets pneumonia.

You need to get to a throat specialist. That was happening to me and you need to get looked at so damage doesn't occur.

I would say Reflux;ie. GERD, but, this probably does not apply since you have colds with it. Reflux can also cause asthma.
