If it wasn't for him, nobody would be talking about it any more... Even among soccer fans, Instead of simply giving Italy credit for what they accomplished, all anyone's talking about is that butthead, Zidane.

Yes, Zidane was a great footballer - pity that he will be remembered most by some people for his infamous headbutting incident against Italy. People will always try to draw comparisons .. some justified and some not. Being a fan of a particular club, can often mean that only their players are remembered, and sometimes in a 'larger than lfe' sense. How many fans other than Liverpool ones remember Craig Johnstone or Steve Heighway - both great players for the Reds, but not spoken of too often by anyone except Liverpool supporters these days. I question the statement that Paul Scholes will only be remembered by Man United fans - that is open for debate. However, I think that Zidane's comments regarding Paul Scholes were sincere and justified, and coming from another great footballer such as Zidane, they are high praise. Cheers.

Zidane made France the team it was he made all players around him look good even Henry. Zidane had a bad start of the WC in the round robin and then his magic came back and if it wasn't for him France wouldn't of made the finals of the WC. so yes Zidane deserved the Golden Ball cause he simply was the best.

Because the votes we're completed before the end of regulation play. Zidane got the red card after the votes were in(overtime). You can't take it back after votes are officially in otherwise it would have been another world cup corruption. Dispite Italy's own corruption problems
