Come on, I know some ladies out that can testify. Brokeback Mountain depicted how homosexual affairs can just happen when confined. Guys are too shy to answer me. I did 6 years in a women facilty and i can tell you that tax money went down the drain because majority participated in this behavior. Prison life was like being away at college, just no guys. This was no punishment. The parties, the drugs, the sex... then church on sunday morning. Visitation was an act too.

I know what you mean by this. I've never been to jail, however I went to a girls home when I was a juvenile. That was the same way. Anything we wanted, we got! I feel like it was pretty fun actually. The girl on girl activity was crazy,,,, I guess it's like thats just the thing to do. So many people are use to being with someone, it's like they might as well,,,, (I guess)

Why wouldn't they? Besides self pleasuring, what other outlet for sexual tensions would they have? The old saying "well, any port in the storm" became basically a sexual saying because for many years there were no female sailors and many men, when locked together will sometimes fall prey to behaviors they wouldn't normal do. Homosexual acts have been confirmed in apes. And ever watch the movie "Girl, Interrupted" a very good character study on institutional life and what it can do to a person's emotional balance, even if they were considered normal before going in.

It's called situational sexual behavior. What it means is that people may engage in sexual behavior that may be different from what they identify as or what is usual for them in their normal environment. For example, college students are more likely to experiment with bisexuality and homosexuality in college, even if they had no inklings of it before or identify as such.

In the case of prisons, people don't stop being sexual beings when they enter prison. Some will enter homosexual relationships as a way of protection or it can be a dominance/rape issue, but others will also genuinely consent to relations with someone of the same sex because of the pleasure that they can get given the situation. Once released, some will continue to have homosexual relationships, or may identify as such, but others will go right back to the life they had, and will continue to identify as straight despite what may have happened in prison.

Listen I worked in prisons for years, so I haven't a clue to where Stephanie who answered you came about her ludicrous facts. What I have seen happen more often is the inmates become friends usually then the rest follows. I know that sometimes in maximum housing the protection part plays into it. I use to give orientation to new inmates and I would tell them if you are not gay right this minute in about thirty days one third of you will be while you are here. Its not always and hardly ever about domination. I've only investigated a handful of rapes in my years and they were all in the female side. Sex becomes a need and this need is sometimes fulfilled while incarcerated.

I have to disagree with Stephenie, Im not saying those things dont happen, but the truth of the matter is, is that consentual sex happens just as much as unconsentual sex. Men do it more so for the sex, the orgasm. Women are more likely to consent for emotional purposes. But all in all most sex on either side happens because of a need.

Homosexuality in prison has more to do with domination and power assertion than it does with romantic relationships. Rape, forced submission, and abuse are the types of sexual activities that take place in prisons. It has little to do with being homosexual. A heterosexual man in prison may assert his domination over another man by sodomizing him. Animals do this as well, they mount one another, females mount females or even males to assert domination and vice versa.

Brokeback Mountain was a damn good movie.I have a friend that's locked up and she was not gay when she went in,but now she has this one girl that she allows to eat her.Not trying to be gross trying to be real, anyways we did'nt know me and another friend went to visit her and the girl put her on the spot walking back and forth trying to figure out who we were. And my friend was like that's Shanon she be putting it down while I'm in here.Cool by me whatever helps her do her time we did'nt make a big deal out of it.I just know if Shanon was still on the st.'s she would'nt be with a woman.(Not that I know of anyways, lol)!

i guess the same reason guys engage in gay behavior when locked up. if you are going to be locked up for a long time and you don't want to spend all those years pleasuring yourself then you have sex with whoever is convenient
