Lol, she means because snails have shells (e.g homes) and slugs do not. Woah people take things very metaphorically here huh? Lol.
And no. As it turns out, the slugs have comfy little cottages somewhere, whilst the slugs are travellers, taking all their worldy possessions on their back. It is in fact the slugs who are the gentry.

i must admit i find the question a strange similie,i assume you are saying homeless people who incidently have to buy the big issues to sell are slugs as in low life and worthless.
i would also assume the snails are the kind caring generous people who buy them because they dont walk fast enough.
i think on both counts you are totally wrong.have you tried standing out in all weathers to recoup your investment.
have you ever had a compassionate, caring ,generous thought at all.
mike
i appologise because the question was not meant to be derogitory in any way.i missunderstood the implication so i am sincerely sorry.

The Big Issue is sold by homeless people - be thankful you haven't suffered some of the things they have. Maybe if you spoke to a couple of them you would learn something

I don't know about that however if these big issue salesmen smartened themselves up a bit they would probably sell more of their publication. some of them look like tramps!
