iam about to buy a new house and stamp dutie seems a totaly mad/unfair tax

I think that you have found the point of stamp duty. It is nothing more than a tax.

I would have to agree with you, totally unfair.

I couldn't agree more with you. It's a disgusting Tax.

The only good thing about it is that if it weren't covered by stamp duty they would probably want to include it Capital Gains or VAT, which would be a whole lot worse.

havent you heard? every money printed is fitted with a homing device. when it leaves the mint, it begans its slow and steady journey back to the treasury. stamp duties is just one of the traps that makes the journey faster.
