I am not sure about American Airlines . I know Delta Airlines can ship snakes. We ship dozens of snakes weekly with Delta so it is possible.

I doubt that you can carry it on with you on any airline though. Call American Airlines and see if you can ship it cargo. To ship snakes, get a box, line bottom and sides with styrofoam(poke a few holes through the box and styro) , place shredded newspaper on the bottom, place snake bag in box, place more shredded paper on top and cover with another piece of styrofoam and close up and seal the box with tape. That is it.

If you can't ship with American Airlines, call Delta. They can probably ship that way on a flight that can arrive around the same time as your AA flight. It only costs about $70.

(Sometimes you can get a styro-lined box from a pet store. They throw away their fish shipping boxes all the time and they are all set up and perfect shipping boxes for snakes. Just make sure it is big enough for your snake)

Good Luck!

Call American Airlines. Call now. You have to plan ahead when traveling with any sort of animal. Every airline has different regulations.
Keep in mind you have to keep the snake at the correct temperature, so he can't ride with your luggage.
Good Luck

For one, I don't see how on Earth you are going to get a container that you can carry a live animal on an airplane with.
Second, I seriously doubt that any airline will let you take a live animal, not to mention it is a six foot snake, on a plane with you.

Are you advertising for the Snakes on a Plane?

Plot- On board a flight over the Pacific Ocean, an assassin, bent on killing a passenger who's a witness in protective custody, lets loose a crate full of deadly snakes.

If he can do it, why can't you?

Ask the airline--- a smallish fit-under-the-seat carry-on would do the trick, but i don't know if the airline will approve.
I've *done * it that way, but not since things got so paranoid.
*I* did not bother to ask, just DID it. ---But like i said, that was a Long time ago.
-- Shipping it in a styrofoam box, perhaps with a warm-water bottle, might also be an option

your best bet is to overnight gaurantee ship it US Postal service or UPS. I have recieved and sent many reptiles this way with no problems. Go to www.kingsnake.com and look under the shipping forum for proper procedure for your weather and conditions. I doubt very seriously if it can be take on luggage and the luggage departmenst on most commercial airlines are not pressured.
