My doctor prescribed "AmLactin XL" moisturizing lotion, Ultraplex Formulation, manufactured by Upsher-Smith. You need very little, and do not need a prescription to get it. You do usually need to ask the pharmacist for it, though. It is $32.00 a tube of 160g. Be certain to put the "XL" after the "AmLactin", because there are 2 kinds. I used this on my hands after doing a lengthy cleaning job, and put thin cloth gloves on over it for the night. They were no longer red, dry, or painful in the morning. The cream is fragrance free. When the tube seems to run out of cream, pop the top off, and it will go on quite a while. Before that, I used the original Blistex in little tubes, even on my hands. You can get this at most any drug store or grocery. It makes the skin feel good and removes the redness.

I use Arbonne. They are really good for every type of skin. Always avoid using products formulatted with mineral oil and animal products. These do not get absorbed by the skin and what it does is that it clogs your pores. In fact mineral oil is the 2nd worse thing you could do to your skins health #1 is the sun, it is like rubbing car oil on your skin and exposing yourself to the sun... Animal product come form rendering plants, these plants pick all dead animals from the road, meatmarkets etc and what they do is put them in a huge pot and squash everything inside and boil it the oil that comes to the top is what other companies use to formulate their "beauty" products ... gross i know.. eww lipstick and aghhh .. anyway, the important thing to do is read your ingredients and use the right ones regularly .... also bathing daily cleanses the skin, but it also can dry it out, causing it to look dull, but most importantly, it may cause irritation and remove the natural emolients your body produces to keep it healthy. When you bathe, always use a moisture-rich cleanser, and always pamper your skin with a daily moisturizer. I buy them online at: http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com (under shop online) they are botanically based and you could really see the difference, i had acne and lots of blemishes and my skin has cleared so much thanks their line clear advantage , it really is amazing and they have everything for everybody.... Also their face wash is great because it cleanses without drying and removes all traces of makeup and dirt.... works wonderful for me and the best thing is that you could shop online, receive it in your house and if ther is something you do not like about the products which is rarely to happen, you return the item and they give your money back .... you have nothing to loose only dry skin ;~)

I have the same problem. The only thing I have found that works is baby oil after I get out of the shower. I have tried every lotion out there and after a few hours my legs and body are dry all over again.
After you get out of the bath or shower pat your self dry don't rub then apply the baby oil after about a week you will notice you skin is smooth and the red blemishes should go away.
Also, baby oil is about 1.00 it is much cheaper than the lotions on the market

Jergens has a brand new lotion out for extremely dry skin. It's called something like "shea butter" for severe dry skin. Havent bought it yet, but I received a sample in the mail. You can go to www.walmart.com and click on free samples and it's there to request to try!! Good luck!

I do not use commercial lotions on my skin. I use 100% extra virgin coconut oil. you just need a little bit twice a day and it got rid of my patches of dry skin. It can be oily, but a little goes a looooong way. Look it up on ebay. I bought a 4 oz jar over 6 months ago.

check out that listing to see and do a search on the internet for extra virgin 100% coconut oil and you will see the benefits.
