Our country won't add any more states in our time. They will however take over land and instill "democratic" puppet governments in order to control trade/natural resources in other countries.
Adding a state would cause too much controversy, especially when there's no difference in calling something a state or a "common wealth" to the government. Making something a state would give the conquered people more power than the government desires them to have.

For starters The state of Tony Blair won't be for much longer as he is retiring and it is 10 Downing Street London EC1 1BX that is a central London post code not 00001 we don't have Zip codes it's England
Now as for US colonies they are so many to chose from which already use the Dollar and some have even petitioned for statehood, Micronesia, Puerto Rico, US Virgin islands, Samoa, Guam, the list is very long of small Island states that are already territories using the dollar.
Then there are Us supported states that would like to become official territories like Benin and a dozen others.

Simple really, probably us. As we have more in common with the yanks than we have with Europe, I'm considering the fact that we can go to any State in the Union and be understood, the same can't be said of any other european country except for Southern Ireland. Another fact the Scots/Irish used to be the biggest ethnic group in America but according to the latest survey the Germans have now taken pole position.

We could add Mexico , that would solve our illegal immigration problem .
We would have all the cheap labor for the corporations
to exploit , pulse all those people will pay taxes .
And Mexico is rich in natural resources and oil .
There might be a few disadvantages , but I'm sure the government could work them out , after all they have done such a good job here , It would be a piece of cake .
We wouldn't have to worry about their people objecting , because they all want to come here anyway .
Now they could stay in Mexico and still get their jobs and benefits . It would be a win win situation for everyone ):>)

It won't be any time soon. We aren't in the market for any new states.
The closest would be Puerto Rico, but even there, only 1% of the people ever want statehood. The other 1% want COMPLETE "independence" and the remaining 98% want to keep things as they are.
Anyway, it would be a pain to have to redo the flag to accommodate the star any new state would need, so forget it...

From where I am, it is Australia. When? Already, in all ways other than openly declared. How? through the continuance (if that is a word...) of Australia's PM only listening to the US president, while ignoring the majority of Australians on all issues. It's a pity though, that if our PM is following America, that we don't adopt a few more of America's bill of rights - over here telling the truth about politics is called sedition; you can be jailed for it. Yep, gotta be careful about your lyrics over here!

Noils, I wouldn't say never. The North American Union is being pushed and I do think that americans will swarm Canada and Mexico once there are open borders.

I wish we'd merge with Mexico and form 20 additional states south of our current border. The capitol of Meximerica would be in Kansas City.
There would be so many benefits for both nations that I can't even start to list them. In my opinion, the number one benefit would be to give our countries, and most importantly our young people, a challenge and a new frontier.
When will it happen? ...sadly never.
