The contactor relay works off of 24 volts from a step down transformer interior the air handler that still powers the 24 volt thermostat. even as the thermostat calls it closes the circuit and sends ability to the coil on the contactor or maybe as it closes 220 volts is geared up to the condensing unit. you've a glide change on your air handler thet breaks the circuit even as the condensation pan is clogged. you also could have a foul contactor coil. once you've a multi meter you are able to try via the coil for twenty-four volts. If it has 24 volts and it dont close then it really is a defective load. If it has 0 for the time of it then their is an open someplace interior the path, it really is executed with ability on and the thermostate calling. you are able to also turn off the flexibility and do a resistance try with the meter in ohms. Unplug on facet of the contactor so that you dont get lower back feed via the meter. in case you study resistance via the coil then that is sturdy, in case you study O.L. open line infinity then the coil is undesirable. do not do any of those try in case your not particular about your protection, all i'm able to say is call someone to fix it and in basic terms be more suitable prepaired next time something breaks. not a huge deal, that is both your project or that is not.

You have several part in a condensing unit (outside). The coil, compressor, fan and contacter . I would see if there if there is voltage (electricity) going to the condensing unit. There is voltage from the furnace from the sound of this as the contacter is clicking. Did you try the outside disconnect? this feed power to the A/C unit outside. There is either a fuse blown or the disconnect is off. Hope this helps.

take the access panel off and look at the contactor it may need to be replaced. I would not do this unless it is really hot in the house but if the contactor is bad wire the unit direct the only way to turn it off is turn it off at the unit

put your setting to a lower temp. We made that mistake of turning it up (like you would heat) and not down for a cooler temp. If that doesn't work. Turn your heat furnace off.

(1) If you have a room-stat make sure it's not set to high.
(2) If the electrics have a fuse in the circuit, check if it's blown. If the fuse is blown, change it.
