I started using tampons when I was about 13 and I love them! They allow you to be more comfortable even with a period, and you don't have to worry so much about leaks and looking like you're wearing a diaper. I'd recommend trying tampons with applicators first (otherwise you have to use your finger, and woo is that fun!). My favorite brands are Tampax Pearls and Playtex Slimfits (Gentle Glide). In the box they'll have pictures; when you're ready to put one in, just relax, spread your legs, and push it in. If you did it right, you won't feel it. If you did it wrong, it'll hurt until you pull it out. You might need to try a couple of times the first day, and then you'll be fine. :)
Also: beware the sizes! It will probably help if you start out with a Slimfit or a 'regular' tampon. The big ones are for heavy, heavy flow, and not the best idea if you're just starting out. Some boxes are actually half and half, so you have the small ones for light days and the big ones for heavy days.

I think tampons work better than pads, they don't leak you can't even feel them and their so much more comfortable than pads. Their not hard to use just read the instructions that come in the box. I like the tampons with the applicators their easier to insert and less messy.

WOOHOO TAMPONS! I could not survive without these things...especially when I was a lifeguard. They are way better than pads, especially if you find a kinda that is nice and comfortable...
I like tampax pearls b/c the applicator goes in nice and smooth. Make sure you start with "light" or "regular" , that will make it easier. Also, besure to read all of the directions before putting them in so you understand how it works.

Yes, tampons are better. Well it depends. I like them because they are inside of me and I don't feel the 'feel' of a diaper. It is almost like I don't have my period...I mean I know I have it, and all.
I'd advise using Tampax Pearl, the regular size, and be relaxed when you try it. You will want to wait until you are cyclying before you try. Also if you feel it, you didn't insert it far enough up in you. If you feel it, start over with a fresh one.
Also, you will want to change it every four to six hours. Except when you are asleep, it's ok to keep it in until you wake up. (up to 8 hours). After you are comfortable, you may want to go up to super or more if your flow is heavier. I hope this helps.
I like Tampax Pearl, but I can't wear just any brand. GL! And yes, I can not imagine wearing pads either!

Tampons have become less popular in recent years due to a syndrome that they can cause. If you do decide to go with them, always change them each 4 hours, and wear a pad overnight. There are very detailed instructions inside tampon boxes.

tampons are much better i think and can be easily hidden
the first time i used them i didnt get it in all the way and it hurt.
so what youll want to do is try to put it up there far enough its not gonna get lost
does your mom or friends wear tampons? maybe you could ask them some questions
pads are to big for me i think they dont feel right and i feel like ppl can see them
buy slender tampons to start with . and they also have finger tampons where all you do is push them up inside you and there very small like 1 inch

I think tampons are better. I could never get used to pads. They are just so uncomfy. I just hate pads. Try tampons...they're great.

They are more convient. I like them more. You can swim or do what ever you want...
Buy a small size and plastic ones for your first try. Read and follow the instructions. They are real easy.
