Excellent question - you actually answered your own question through your examples.

Sometimes people act like we are all in it together and sometimes people act like every man for himself.

Does it depend on the weather? It's true that hot weather can make people irritable and in a hurry to get where it's cool.

It's a very complicated, complex question because each of the incidents that you described would have to be analyzed from many angles and points of view.

Even just look at yourself - do you always act the same way? The answer is probably no. Sometimes you feel like helping out (perhaps you are in a good mood and you have time) and sometimes, you feel you can only help yourself (perhaps you are in a bad/sad mood and feel pressure/overwhelmed with responsibilities).

So we as a society/people are just as muddled as ever, but there's always hope and progress. We have to keep on keeping on and when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

I don't know. I've never taken a course in sociology so I can't say for sure.

From a Christian standpoint, we need to work together to make this world a better place for God's children (ourselves).

As a person who takes the bus regularly, I can understand how a wheelchaired passenger can irritate drivers and passengers for putting them off schedule but it's not the fault of the guy in the wheelchair. After all, he never asked to be disabled.

The parents of the young child should be more observant of the kid's whereabouts. There are a lot of creepy people out there.

It's nice to know that there are some good teen-agers out there that have respect for their elders.

It's not as if we were massed produced humans in a humanizing industry. When and if we are given the opportunity to develope or accomodate philosophies or philosophies of a religion, we are different. Many appearances of quality of human action preconditioned on contingent conditions rather than principles of good deeds, the interpretation becoming likewise contingent on those temporary unforeseen hapstances in life. In other words we should becareful how we interpret what we see of people.

Should we be all in it together. From what experiences I value in life and those forces that destroy them, I say yes, we should be in it together. As a principle for action 'every man for himself' is unpractisable in any honest sense.

How are we doing? We are struggling.

We're all in it together if there's a catastrophe.

But when it comes to making money, it's every man for himself.

We're greedy like that.

There are very few people who are in it together. Most people will say they are, but their actions show they are in it for themselves only.
