Many headaches are caused in part by dehydration. Drink some water and you might feel better.
Also, if you're a caffeine addict, a headache can be a sign of withdrawal. While the long term solution would be to ease up on the caffeine, a small shot of coffee right now could make you feel better to get through the day.

1.Put hairbands or rubber bands around your wrists to restrict some blood flow. It will make the pounding less noticeable.
Remember to pay attention, though. Check your hands every once in a while to make sure they're getting enough blood flow. If they start turning blue-ish, take the rubber bands off for a few minutes to restore their oxygen supply before continuing.
2. Find wherever the pressure is originating from on your head and use your fingertips to gently massage it in small circles at first, then getting larger as the pain starts to ease.
3.As a tip, most stress-headache pressure originates either from the temples, either directly on the temple or the space right behind them (aka the space right above the ends of your eyebrows),
OR
4.The two corners of your skull right behind your ears. If you're not sure, try laying your hands on the sides of your neck by putting your pinkies along you jaw (so that the the tips just touch the point where your ear meets your face), lay your thumbs in the crook of your neck, and roll your hands up onto the finger tips of your middle and ring fingers. Though it depends on your personal anatomy, the point where your middle and ring fingers rest should be the pressure point you're looking for. Depending on the headache, either right on the bone or the space just below the protrusions should be where the pressure is.
5. Drink a lot of water (but don't make yourself sick!), keep cool, try and relax so that your blood pressure will stay low. The easier your blood is flowing, the less pain you're going to have in the area where the blood is restricted. If the pressure techniques (massaging, etc), get rid of your headache altogether, still keep drinking water! It will help wash the natural toxins that the headache created out of your body so that you don't get another Worse headache later.
*Remember that headaches originate from a restriction of blood flow in your head, so all of these solutions deal with altering your blood flow in some manner.
If ANYTHING you try makes you dizzy or lightheaded, stop immediately or you risk passing out. Think carefully before considering continuing the same form of treatment.
-If massaging the stress points makes you dizzy, try starting again with just-barely-touches, and then slowly work your way up to a harder massage as you widen the circles. Repeat starting at the center of the pressure and working outwards until the pressure eases.
-If the wristband treatment makes you dizzy, take them off for several minutes before you try again.
**If ANYTHING makes you dizzy after the second or more try, just stop altogether, and consider a different course of action.
*Oh, and these suggestions are for the most part temporary solutions, so (particularly if you get headaches often), it's a good idea to just buy any kind of aspirin or ibuprofen that you can take with you wherever you go.
...And a tip from experience: Try getting tablet (or any other form that won't melt).

Jameson is definitely the better of the two options. Just don't imbibe if your dentist has given you pain-killers; opioids and alcohol do NOT mix safely. Being pain-free is great, but you don't want that to become a permanent state of existence. Take the pain meds you've been prescribed; there are any number of studies showing that people in pain heal considerably slower than those whose pain is mitigated by medication. To the person above me - root canals can hurt like hell for a few days. You'd know this if you'd ever had one. Between the (multiple) injections of local anesthetic, the fact that the endodontist/dentist literally goes in and destroys the nerves in the tooth and often impacts the bone itself, and the common necessity of man-handling the mandible or maxilla to get purchase on the tooth in question, a patient can be in SEVERE pain after a root canal through no fault of the dentist.

Eat something. Drink water. If that doesn't help after half an hour, ask around for some aspirin or some other pain reliever. If you're working in an office or closed area and have no air, go outside for a short walk.

Try squeezing the skin right inbetween your thumb and index finger. It's a pressure point and it always works for me...it might work better to have someone else do it, though. You should also take IBUprofen or Excedrin. Drink something with caffeine in it too. You could even try catching a light nap to rest your eyes. Good luck and I hope you feel better!

Believe it or not a tbspn of lemon juice dialates the vessels that constrict when you have a headache . This is also good for migraines. Also an icepack or cold cloth on the forehead is good too. If you want a pill though I would recommend Excedrin Migraine along with the lemon juice.

Wherever the pain is, massage that hand with the other hands thumb.. ex: if the pains on your right side of your head, massage the centre of your right hand with your left hand's thumb.
This should work and ease the pain.
