check if it's connected to power
you can open it manually by inserting a pin in that small hole in the front of the cd drive, and pushing a little. the cd door will open a little then you can open it by pulling it out gently

-First you have to see if it has power.
-If it does and it still doesn't open, there is a small pin size hole (beneath the tray) in the front, this a manual release lever. Stick a pin or the end of a paper clip in to this little hole (not too hard). It should release the tray, then simply pull out the cd tray.
-If this keeps on happening, then the cd player doesn't work. Get a new one, they start at $20 depending on speed.

Is there a little pin hole around the cd tray ?, if so push a pin into it.
If that doesnt work, turn off the power and take out battery ( only for laptop), very carefully slide the blade of a knife in the gap arounf the cd tray, see if you can tease it open, be carefully no force, small movements and dont force it.

The CD tray is not a cup holder. Haha
Check the power connection. It may have come loose. If the LED on the front lights up when you boot your PC then the power is OK.
If you still can't open it then there might me a mechanical failure such as the tray motor or it might be stuck. Then it needs to be replaced (cheap) or repaired (expensive)

Its ok my computer does the samething sometimes. All you have to do is look on the cd drive and there should be a little hole right below it when you find the hole take a straightened paper clip and stick it in the hole and push a little and it should open. if not restart your computer and try again.
