you must be joking, right???....(some of the responses to this question are right on track..some are merely uneducated)...every responsible and irresponsible nation on earth knows there are consequences..yes, even Iran....but not to outweigh the obvious for the benefit of your question, Israel and the states as most democracy's, are elected to protect the welfare and lives of their people as they are accustomed to..this means an un-provoked attack on another sovereign nation will expect retaliation..especially in a strategic geographical nation as Israel....this is not about religion, regarding your question, and its not about who gets slapped on the hand for doing no-no´s.....as a world leader, the states, we endorse and live by consequences...we just seem to make the best choices.. so, to answer your question , there is not a nation under the blue sky that does not realize that there are always consequences to any action (domino effect)..you live in the greatest country on earth, with the strongest allies on the planet..there is a reason for this my friend, and sometimes the consequences of a certain reaction is the best outcome...read some history regarding the birth of America and Israel..this will put things into perspective..

American and Israeli leaders are well aware of the consequences that certain actions bring. No large act by either in recent times was done without input from allies. Maybe this question is better directed at their enemies.

Why do Arabs think the whole world belongs to them? You murder and attack people outside your own borders, Abdul, you must expect some "consequences" yourself. You're just angry because you attacked Israel in the manner of cowards (as usual) and now Israel, in the manner of soldiers, is grinding your faces in the dirt. When will you people learn to leave Israel alone if you don't want to get your @sses kicked?

If you are referring to Israel's response to the cross-border raid and the launching of rockets into Israel in hopes of killing random people in their homes, then here is why Israel thinks they can counter attack and take out the terrorists who are doing this: Because it is their duty to protect their citizens and most of the world has to admit that that is the case.

Even many Arab counties who side with terrorists, cannot present a solid argument on why Israel should just stand by and let terrorists attack their people.

What makes you think they undertake actions without thought to consequences? Your questions presumes more than is reasonable and makes little sense. In addition, it makes it obvious that you have done no research and committed little thought to your question.

um, they don't!!! i think the more pressing question is 'why do the arabs do whatever the hell they want, and in addition to nobody stopping them, people support and encourage them?!?"
does the name Gilad Shalit ring a bell? let me clue you in- an Israeli soldier being held captive for nearly two weeks, after an attack that was completely unprovoked!!!!!

may i remind you that the arabs have been attacking Israel consistently for the past few years, and it's high time Israel retaliated?!?!?!?!?
