the Mi5 are recruiting openly, they have never recruited openly before, what do you think is wrong, is there somthing we don't know about?

Because more intel is needed due to the actions of Islamofascist organizations in your UK and abroad.
How hard is that to understand?

They have been recruiting openly for years, the dark days of being recruited by a don whilst studying are klong gone, though I suspect it still happens. Anyway, primary reasons for opening up like this would be:
Increased competition - the kind of people they want to recruit for their jobs, will also be tempted by much higher paid jobs in the commercial world/the city etc - so they need to recruit from a larger pool in order to get enough decent people through the door.
I believe that they were planning on tripling their headcount over the next few years - therefore, have to go public.
Stuff like the bombing in London has highlighted the complex security issues this country faces at home. MI5 have been accused of underestimating this in the past. These kind of security issues are a lot more complex to solve than dealing with the IRA etc

They have been more public in their recruitment campaigns for the past year or so. The reason is that Mi5 got rid of lots of intelligence officers when the IRA scaled down it's activities. That left the UK unprepared for the terrorism upsurge from Muslim extremists - hence making amends now. Some might say too much too late.

They have just realised that MI5 can't rely on using American based intelligence (surely an Oxymoron like American Precison) as so far much of it to do with terrorism has been proved wrong from the WMD at the onset of gulf war II to the latest ' bomb terror raid' on 2 houses in which one person got shot and not even an apology!!

No i didn't know! Wow can i apply? I'd love to be a spy! Just as long as i get Miss Moneypenny to look after my paperwork that is! on a serious note and gloomily ... It's all gone pear shaped and we could very well wake up soon not to moan about how hot it is because of summer temperatures but the 3rd world war. And i think this could well explain that! I hope i'm wrong, i really do.

They have actually, about 15 years ago. The reason is, I suspect, That they realise that there is a lot of talent amongst 'normal people' and it would be a waste to ignore it. Some of the sneakiest people in the world can be found in your local pub.

A shortage of public schoolboys and a realisation that the UK does not consist soleyl of white people. I'm sure its come as a shock to some of the establishment.
