Undoubtedly with The Smiths - Morrisey's lyrics and Johnny Marr's guitar sound was a brilliant combination!

Oh that's just not fair. That's like asking which child you'd save in a fire.
I suppose it comes down to which is better: 'There is a light that never goes out' or 'Now my heart is full'.
aaargh. Morrissey solo. There I've done it. Satisfied?

Johnny Marr & Morrisey was a match made in heaven. I'm sorry, but neither of them has done anything good on their own to even come close to what The Smiths released.

I like a bit of both!
It's not possible to equate music made at different times and with different people. Each song has it's own life and the really good ones will continue to touch listeners beyond the days in which they were made.

It's a very hard one but "life is a pigsty" in my opinion is the best song he's ever written so i guess I'll have to go with Solo.

bit of both, the smiths stuff was great, but you are the quarry was something else ! although ringleader of the tormentors was not so good, to be honest have only listened to it twice, cant face a 3rd time, but the old stuff, this charming man, what difference does it make ? just unbeatable really !

With The Smiths. Mind you, 'Suedehead' and 'Every day is like sunday' were good solo tracks.
