.My first impulse to say.

Apply freon to your car in a circular motion and remove with a soft terry cloth. And, I don't want to apply it to my car.

Seriously
1) Cars don't use 'freon' any longer. Freon was a DuPont trade name for a a group of chlorofluorocarbons refrigerants that were found to deplete the planets Ozone layer. We don't use them any longer.
2) If your car does 'Freon'(R-12) refrigerant in it. You must by law take it to a licensed A/C service center to have it removed.
3) If you are talking about a late model automobile using R-134 refrigerant. You may buy R134 at your local auto part store.
There is an fitting on the low pressure side of the a/c system that the can be used to add r-134. When you buy the R-134 get the hose with the fitting at the same time.
Start the engine, turn on the a/c to max.Cool,
attach the R-134 can to the hose, connect the fitting on the hose to the a/c fitting hold the can upright shaking it a Little. when you cannot feel any more liquid in the can from the shaking, remove the hose fitting from the a/c.
If your a/c is not cooling at all at this point, you probably have some other problem with it and should have a qualified a/c tech check it out.

first thing you have to do is to locate the low pressure port on the a/c line. it is usually located on the larger daimeter tube that runs between the compressor and the evaporator(in the dash board). second you use a gauge to check the amount of pressure in the line. if it is below 40psi then you need to add. if it is 40 or above do not add(take the vehicle to a mechanic). to add connect the freon cannister to the low pressure port and add until the a/c clutch engages. after the clutch has engaged the pressure will go down. continue adding until you get the pressure back up to 40 psi. do not overfill. if that does not work , the air gets hot again overnight, or you dont understand what i have just said take the vehicle to a repair shop and have them do it. it can be dangerous if you dont know what you are doing.

Grumpy is right....but before you start..make sure the radiator fan is operational as the electric fans are part of the compressor ckt and if that circuit doesn't work right, your compressor clutch won't engage. 2nd, turn the compressor by hand with engine off to be sure it's not locked up. Then you can start charging your system. Begin with engine off so you can hear any leaks. When you are sure it doesn't have a HUGE leak....start it up so it will draw in all contents of the can. It's always a good idea to add an ounce of ester oil IF YOU REPLACE ANY PARTS on the a/c system. OK, good luck.

That depends on the type of car you have. You have to locate the low hose.....just take it to Auto Zone and let them do it for you. Get a female to take it and ask for freon and they will put it in for her and make sure that was the problem.
