It is a sin Genesis 2:24-25 says, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.” Hebrew 13:4 says, “Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” All sexual sins (i.e. promiscuity, adultery, homosexuality, prostitution, etc.) are sins because they do not conform to the limit of sex being a marital activity. Now of course some of you will point out the list of sexual activity prohibited by the Mosaic laws, but let’s not address those issues of the law from which Paul said we are now free. Instead, let’s stick to those ancient commands that endure eternal. To that end, the above-mentioned single rule is how we are to judge sexual morality

The fact that a bronze age book of myths says something is wrong doesn't mean anything. THere are lots of things that are as wrong in the Bible -- and they are not sins either. Even if you are not genuinely a believer in what Lord Christ supposedly said (the great commandment)

While we have none of the autographs of the Bible, the early manuscripts we do have have and that are known to be genuine, by the most conservative estimates, have 200,000 differences between the wording in them, and while many are not meaningful, some completely change the doctrine of the church. (Ehrman, Bart, Ph.D.; Misquoting Jesus: The story behind who changed the Bible and Why; Harper Collins, 2006 -- p. 89). less conservative estimates range up to about 400,000 -- and there are programmers now endeavoring to write a program that will be able to count the exact number of variances.

And that's only the start of the difficulties for the Bible. If you only use the Textus Receptus (Received Text) as it is printed in modern Bibles then you are looking at enormous problems anyway -- in fact insurmountable ones. The World does not have corners (Isaiah 11:12), nor does it sit on pillars (I Samuel 2:8), nor water (Psalms 24:1-2). God did not establish a solid dome over the earth (that's what firmament literally means) and he does not have a palace on top of it from which angels can come and go up Jacob's ladder -- which might be reached by the tower of babel -- and where he keeps "treasuries" of hail and snow (Job 38: 22-23). For the sake of all that is decent, you can't even harmonize the 1st and 2nd chapters of Genesis with each other, say nothing of being able to defend the Biblical creation as scientifically factual. That's no surprise though, as the Bible tells us that beetles have four legs (Leviticus 11: 21-23) and that rabbits chew their cuds (Deuteronomy 14:7). It says that pi is 3, not 3.14 (I Kings 7:23 and 2 Chronicles 4:2) and that the mustard seed is the smallest seed in the world and grows into a tree [neither of which are true] (Matthew 13: 31-32). It is hardly a font of rational thought or scientific accuracy. Furthermore these errors only scratch the surface. Try harmonizing accounts in Joshua and the telling of the same tales in timeline in Judges sometime. If you can you are more proficient than any theologian I've ever met, and I've met a few.

Late bronze age men created the OT and early iron age ones the NT. It is not surprising therefore that God cannot lead Israel to defeat Iron chariots after promising he would (Judges 1:19), and it is not surprising that the flight of Israel from the god Chemosh, after the king of a city the Jews were beseiging and that God had promised them they would overthrow The King of the city offered his own son to Chemosh as a human sacrifice, resulting in Chemosh driving the Israelites away (2 Kings 3: 19-27) -- further it is not surprising that no punishment is mentioned -- the Israelites were still sacrificing their own children, as is evidenced in several places, but most graphically in Judges 11:30-39

The long and short of it is, the Bible is a mythic book, written by bronze and iron age men who were recording primarily oral legends in written form. In any realistic sense it is drivel. You can see, just in the passages I noted above from 2 Kings -- the last vestiges of polytheism fading away. Chemosh was supposed to get power from human sacrifice, just as Jehovah did -- and that power allowed him to turn the table against Israel, despite the fact that God was with Israel.

And if you want a chuckle, read the second, and theoretically final version of the ten commandments. They are in Exodus 34: 10-26. That is the covenant Yahweh actually made with Israel. No seething here.

You know whats really funny is that you haven't even quoted the scripture stating that homosexuality is wrong....here's a clue Leviticus and Romans....but what really kicks my rocks is that with alll the fcuked up shhhit goin on in the world, you have the audacity to pick homosexuality as #1 sin...People are killing each other at an astronomical rate and you pick homosexuality....Im sorry all sin is the same and for you to just focus all your attention on consensual sex is a sin.....you should be focusing on a cause more worthy like the impending wars. And how we will ultimately lose because our troops are fighting in a situation thats foolish and our resources will soon be tapped dry....think about your children who may never have a chance to gay bash because their father chose an unworthy subject to bring attention to. Yea homosexuality doesn't seem so bad now does it?
If your gonna quote the bible have a firm understanding.I am a lesbian and Ive soul searched to find the answers including reading the bible from front to back. I have come to my own conclusions and im goin to do whats right for me because no one can answer for my sins..thats why it is a sin to cast judgment....so before you start askin asinine questions.....get all the info...and know that you can be asking something better..

What's worse then homosexuality? People like you who claim to be Christians and judge others! Who are you to talk about anyone else sinning when you're sinning by judging gay people? It talks in the Bible about judging other people. That's right though, people like you know the Bible well when you try and point out a wrong doing by someone else, but you just always pass over the passage in the Bible that tells you what you're doing is sinful. I can't stand it when people use God and religion as a reason to hate and be prejudice against others. It's not your place to tell these people how horrible they are. It's none of your business, so stop your preaching. I very much believe in God, but people who preach and come off as if they have never done wrong literally make me sick.
My husband and I are much more concerned with keeping our children away from people such as yourself, then keeping them away from a gay person that is hurting no-one. You're the kind of person that spreads hate and prejudice with your way of thinking.

This supposes that we all agree with the concept of sex and marriage as determined by the church. It also falsely implies that we all agree on "sex sins" ===
Citing quotes from the bible is probably the worste way to try and convince somebody. It soon becomes clear that the preacher is reading a book written by man, and (in effect) that your proof of being right is that you say your right. The book was written and heavily edited by men. The proof that the bible's holy is that many people claim its true.===

The worse sin is someone who claims to be a gay basher/not gay at the same time take time to study and use god and religion to 'question' and take interest in homosexuality in general.
I think you are gay but in denial. Thats why you are interested. Just look at your profile ..full of gay issues. Why dont you come out from the closet and stop from hiding behind the Church! What are you afraid of? Judgement day?
If religion promote hate, intolerance, prejudice and bias-ness? What religion is that? If you think it is a sin why dont you stop from responding in here and move to Texas milking cows instead?
Finally, if you emphasize homosexuality as a sin what about issues like the use of contraptions , abortion, cloning babies, extra marital affair and capital pusnishments-electric chair etc by heterosexuals eh?

Homosexuality is not one of the seven deadly sins NOR is it listed in the 10 Commandments. Sin is sin in the eyes of God. One is not worse than another. Now get off your soap box.

Wow. I almost fell asleep before i go to the end of this non question.

Hate to break it to you, but you aren't smart. You wouldn't know how to think for yourself if your life depended on it.

And, I do believe that Jesus came to save us and to make the old testement into the new. He never mentions homosexuality. Must not be all that important to him.

When you can do something other than quote a book that men wrote...and admit to the fact that christianity has been changed as much by man as by god....then we might be able to hold some sort of rational conversation.

Most all sins are the same in the eyes of God whether its stealing, murder, homosexuality, adultery, worshipping false gods.......these things in the eyes of God are no different one from another, but there is one sin that does exceed these and is the worst sin of all that is .........

blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the worst sin of all and it tells us this in the Bible

Acts3: 28-29 Verily I say unto you, all sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

I think these verses speak for themselves as to what will happen if man should blaspheme the Holy Spirit, and by the way the word blaspheme in case you are wondering means (to talk profanely about, revile...to curse, swear, defame, put down, and belittle).

Homosexuality is not a sin. Man-made religion has just always been afraid of the untraditional minorities. Judgmentalism , fear and hatred do a lot of damage from what I have observed.
