yes, i think he did. soccer is a sport that aimed more at the younger generation players. the only position that an older player can maintain a high level of competency is goalkeeper.

in soccer you need speed and reflexes, both of which diminish as a player gets older. while 34 is by no means "old", in sporting terms, it is beyond a player's prime (which is usually from 25-32, depending on the sport).

zizou decided he would rather go out at the top of his game rather than hang on too long and tarnish his legacy. however, the caveat to that is that his actions in the world cup final versus italy may tarnish his legacy some, in a way much worse than hanging on too long would have.

He has played for 18 years, and had a beautiful career. I dont see anything wrong with him retiring at this point. He has played to the age that most pros play up to.
