Yes I know what you mean. Like the dogs who scrape their butts across the carpet. They leave racing stripes criss crossing the carpet. Its like some kind of stinky Jackson Pollock painting.

My animals certainly aren't filthy. We keep them well-groomed and clean, along with their areas. If an animal or their area is constantly dirty or smelly, then it's probably the owner's fault for not being responsible. Besides that, many animals need or should be kept indoors at least some of the time. Plus, if you're an animal lover, you enjoy sharing your home with critters. The daily interaction is important for pet and owner.

I take it that you either have had animals that weren't well cared for or you don't have any/much experience with indoor pets? Here's a suggestion since the presence of animals in the home seems to be offensive to you: Don't get an indoor pet and don't visit homes with indoor pets. Voila! Problem solved. :)

Animals aren't 'filthy', but homes can certainly be, if let go and not continuously cleaned. Most animal lovers seem go agree that vacuuming up pet hair every day or two, cleaning floors where the animal's food and/or water may have spilled, bathing the animal when it is necessary to do that, keeping the animal's teeth as clean as possible, and taking care of all its bathroom habits are chores well worth putting up with, for the love and companionship they receive. 'Indoors' is best for all animals other than true livestock, and even they function best in correct housing. Even outdoors, bad weather means cozy barns, for them.

If you feel that animals which should be cared for indoors are 'gross', please do yourself and any animals you might have considered adopting a favor, and don't bring any of them home to care for at all.

I am curious, and there is obviously a couple different ways to read your question. Are you referring to all animals as filthy? Or just referring to filthy animals?

There is a distinct difference, if it is the latter then I agree with you, of course even then everyone would have a different definition of filthy. If you are referring to the former, then I would disagree with your sentiment.

Dogs and cats are not filthy. Why would you want an animal and then keep it outside? I have to cats and I have less to clean up from them nd someone I used to be married to. My house is clean.
