What is the definition of true love? What is the difference between love and a crush? How does one know when they are experiencing love or just a crush?

A soul mate is a step beyond true love. True love is a step beyond love. Love is a step beyond infatuation. Infatuation is a step beyond attraction. It seems to me that “crush” is the slang term for infatuation. Liking seems to be a separate issue from love, infatuation, and/or attraction but is very important to true love and soul mates. It seems that people can be in love without liking each other very much. But, in true love one likes the other person and wants only the best for them in addition to being in love. The problem is that true love can be one way; someone can truly love another who does not reciprocate that love. I think being soul mates is the expression of reciprocal true love for each other plus a little extra. What is the little extra? The little extra is time and effort. Whether someone is your soul mate can only be discovered through experience. If you continue to love, and like, and want the best for someone over time that is true love and, if that experience is mutual, then you might be soul mates. If you see each other’s differences and quirks as a contribution to the relationship and not something to be changed in each other, then you might be soul mates. If you are willing to fill each other’s gaps just because you want the best for your partner, and for the sake of the relationship itself, and not for some personal advantage, then you might be soul mates. True love is something you can experience directly but it is possible to recognize your soul mate only in looking back over time. You can know true love in the moment. However, recognizing your soul mate is an “ah-ha” experience based on long experience. You realize that after all this time of truly loving, and being loved, and working so hard to make a relationship work that you have found a soul mate. Every couple needs to decide how long that time needs to be for themselves. But, with true love you can decide for yourself. Does this make sense?

The definition of true love is two people that have such strong feeling about eachother that they cant picture themselves with anyone else . A crush is just when you see the person and then start liking them but you arent together yet. And I'm sure you can tell the difference when you are in love or just a crush. It is a huge difference.

A selfless state of compassion and trust of someone. To accept the differences between yourself and someone else and be okay with them. A person in your life you are ready to go through hell and back again without losing them along the way. When you have dreams about trading your life for the life of the one you love, that is true love.

Definition? I'd say when you want more for another than for yourself.
How to know? Spend time apart,a crush will fade,true love will increase.

True love cannot really be explained. Caring is love and this is the most important ingredient in love. At least that's what I think.

There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.
