Why do you think Bush can do anything about it? For one, its Israel not USA, two - Israel is responding in the only way the Palestinians (Hezbollah) understand. It is sad for the inocent Lebanese who are caught in the middle, but Hezbollah is causing all the unrest in Gaza while siting all comfy in their homes in Lebanon. And all this just as a major breakthrough in peace talks between Israel and Palestine was about to happen. If I were Israeli or a Palestinian who wants peace in Gaza, I would want Hezbollah taken out at any cost, for the future of both people.

First...it's not up to Bush to stop the bombing in Lebanon. That's up to the Israeli government.

Have you asked, why did the Hizbollah guerrillas kidnap the soldiers? Lebanon in general is being hit because the government has done nothing to stop the activities of these terrorists. Doing nothing is the same as condoning it. That's the view towards any government that supports or does not actively suppress terrorists groups and activities within it's country.

Other countries have the right to do what is necessary to protect themselves from these same terrorist groups and activities, and if the heart of that lies within another country who is doing nothing, then they brought it upon themselves. Israel would have not attacked if they had felt the Lebanese government would quickly act to resolve it themselves.

To do nothing would be the same as trying to ignore gang activity from infested communities within our own cities. Since we can't initially just walk in and start policing it in another country, we can only go after the governments who are not doing it themselves. In some cases, we do end up policing it ourselves when removing the government is the only answer.

The only alternative is to bury our heads in the sand and pretend it isn't happening and hope it doesn't affect us personally. In some cases, doing that too long is what lead to the drastic measures now being taken.

Do you ever read a newspaper or listen to the news? Are you living in a cave? Israel has been attacked many many times by suicide bombers and terrorists, the same terrorists that attacked us on 9/11. Now some of their soldiers have been kidnapped and Lebanon has missiles aimed at Israel's border. Israel is the only democracy and the only ally of the US in the Middle East. They have a right to defend their territory. They are doing what we should be doing to terrorists -- destroying their training grounds. Go, Israel, go.

well first of i want to comment on the other answers...
1) hezbollah does not equal to Palestinians. they are from Lebanon
2) lebanon and syria = republic= rule by people = democracy
3) airports + highway does not equal to training grounds
4) hammas kidnapped israel soldiers to trade with women and children in jail.....hummm....women and children.....why not?
5) oh yah usa did veto the un resolution.....
6) hamas and hezbollah got nothing to do with 9/11

middle east is a screwed up place. arabs are crazy, and israel....well there crazy too. israel is sort of a usa creation. without usa israel would not exist. but now israel are insanely strong and dont need usa. so usa would not want there creation to be kicked in the ***, even though they'll probably wont get there *** kicked. usa can surely stop all this. but it's more beneficial for usa to support israel. cheaper, and israel has more stuff to trade with. anyways usa got there on crap to deal with.

i dont know if self defense is a good way to justify why israel bomb the crap out of them people, but this question is not asking that right? so im kind of lazy to elaborate that response.

Israel is just defending itself agaist attack, which they have every right to do.They are showing they will not be itimidated by terrorists,or other such groups! No matter what Israel does, its never enough for some, they do not want Israel to exist. Israel lives in peace and harmony providing its neighbours leave them alone! Sending suicide bombers, firing rockets,is provocation. Would America except another country firing rockets directly into their country, its an act of war! What would President Bush do? I think he would go do the same to them,THATS why he's not doing anything,AT THIS MOMENT in time!

Earlier the Israeli envoy to the U.N. spoke and I'll sum up what he said. It is like Chicago getting bombed from Canada. What would the U.S. do? Nothing? Would they send Canada a postcard?

Israel has the right and the duty to defend itself against terrorists.

They left Lebanon two years ago, there is no occupation there, there is no Israeli aggression there, there is no Israeli presense in Lebanon before THEY kidnapped Israeli soilders and fired ROCKETS upon Israeli Cities.

Some people have a very poor culture...
I'm Catholic and Lebanese and I don't think that the airports, roads and piers [all of them] of a nation that consists of 19 religious communities have to be bombed because 1 political party kidnapped 2 soldiers. And that's without counting the INNOCENT people dying.
That's obviously no self-defense.
As said Israel is Us' ally in the ME, and I personnaly do not have anything against the jewish people, I admire their hardworking and success techniques, but i'ts the authorities to blame.
We can't do nothing but Pray.
God Bless ur homes, and go chill out 2nite
it's saturday. [u can, but i can't]

Because the USA has nothing to do in that situation.
Why can't people make up their mind one day they want the USA to be the police of the world then another day they want them to stop the war and get out of that country?
