Fission is splitting massive atoms, like uranium & plutonium, in two. Fusion is forcing two light atoms, like hydrogen, together to form helium. Both reactions creat large amounts of energy.

To start a fusion reaction the heat and pressure of an a-bomb is used to provide the nessesary energy.

The thoery of cold fusion is to some how find a way to start the fusion reaction at a much lower temperature. There by creating a limitless energy source. So far no one has done it.

ordinarily, fusion happens in straightforward terms while it is relatively relatively warm. Nuclei would desire to have various and various kinetic potential to beat the repulsive electromagnetic stress between them to reason fusion in the 1st place, and meaning it must be rather heat. the belief at the back of chilly fusion is this repulsive stress ought to by some capacity be triumph over at plenty decrease temperatures. precisely how is problematic to declare, via fact so some distance no one has got here upon the thank you to make it take place. So one key difference is that fusion is unquestionably shown, and chilly fusion ... no longer plenty. something of your question is rather complicated. i'm unsure what you're attempting to ask. As for lightning, it does not contain fusion or fission in any respect -- it is basically an exceedingly super electric powered cutting-edge arcing in the direction of the air to create a plasma.

Cold fusion is like doing what the sun does, fusing hydrogen into helium, at room temperature with a catalyst.
Nuclear fission is breaking larger atoms into smaller ones.
Nuclear fusion is combining smaller atoms into a larger one.

nuclear fission and fusion are more or less the same thing but cold fusion is the ability to make endless energy with out puting any energy in to it.

Fission: Big atoms splitting into smaller ones.
Fusion: Small atoms joining into bigger ones.
Cold Fusion: unproved ability to fuse H2 into He at near room temperature using a catalyst.
