I'm looking at approximately 2000 square feet, two levels, 3BRS, 2Bath. One estimate I had heard was around $70 per sqft, plus finishing costs. Thanks

The cost will depend on a lot of variables, starting with the location within the state of New Jersey where you want to build your house. Other variables include all types of fixtures and finishes. For example, brick or other exterior finish, quality of cabinetry and tops, etc.. I am sure you get the picture. You don't even mention whether or not you want a full basement or a garage.

Not including the land, the cost to build will range from a low of about $85.00 per square foot to as much as you can afford.

Good luck with your building project.

What do you mean by prefab homes? If you are referring to the homes that are delivered on trailers and then assembled, sort of an upgraded version of the double-wide mobile homes, be very careful. It'll be called prefab until you are in it, then the bank will insist its a mobile home and mortgages are difficult to get. So pay attention to whom you are talking. Sales men's statements are not binding on banks or zoning commissions.
