My favourite authors are:

Isaac Asimov
Anne McCaffrey
Harry Harrison - the Deathworld Omnibus is great
Larry Niven
Ursula K. Le Guin
Robert A. Heinlein his early stuff before editors got scared of him.
Murray Leinster - the planetry explorer series
Orson Scott Card - The Ender series
Arthur C Clarke
David Weber - The Honour Harrington Saga

Oh, yes. Asimov was the best. Heinlein, Fred Pohl, Poul Anderson, Arthur C. Clarke. The classics. But also: Karen Traviss, Jack McDevitt, Vernor Vinge, James Hogan, Orson Scott Card.

Loved the 40's and 50's pulp mags. favourite old-time authors: Eric Frank Russel, Robert Heinlein, EC Tubb, Robert Silverberg.

I like Asimov and Heinlein. So much of what they're calling scifi today is fantasy or even horror. I like to see some science in it.

I like Ray Bradbury's books but the new stuff that has come out like what is shown on the SciFi channel I can't stand.
